Finding a true wheelchair-accessible Class A diesel pusher usually means settling for a sterile, institutional-looking conversion or sacrificing high-end residential finishes.
This custom-modified 2006 Mandalay is the rare exception. Thoughtfully designed in 2016 and personally used by an Occupational Therapist and wheelchair user, every modification was engineered to preserve the coach’s warm, solid-hardwood cabinetry, residential elegance, and open flow—with zero clinical compromises.
Built on the heavy-duty Freightliner XC Raised-Rail Air-Ride Chassis and powered by a pre-emissions 400 HP Cummins ISL turbo diesel paired with an Allison 3000 MH 6-speed automatic transmission (with integrated downshift braking), this coach has only 48,996 original miles. Because the engine sits at the rear, cockpit conversations happen at a whisper while the coach tracks down the interstate with rock-solid authority—completely unmoved by passing 18-wheelers. From its seamless, factory paint-matched 71" × 47" mid-coach lift door and commercial 1,000-lb. capacity BraunAbility wheelchair lift (Model NCL954IB3454-2) to its 37" wide double sliding hardwood privacy doors, roll-in teak shower, roll-under Corian vanity, King master suite, and 100% carpet-free marine Luxury Woven Vinyl flooring, this Mandalay 40E delivers complete, independent barrier-free freedom across all four seasons. Offered at $92,500 (Turnkey with 6 Brand-New 22.5" Tires — Or Flexible Closing Allowance for Buyer’s Preferred Tire Brand).
See firsthand how effortlessly a wheelchair user boards the coach via the 1,000-lb. capacity BraunAbility lift, navigates the private bath and King bedroom suites, and glides through the 37" corridor into the expansive front salon.

For the past ten years, this Mandalay 40E has been our ticket to complete freedom along the Eastern Seaboard. It has carried us effortlessly from the rugged beauty of Canada’s Maritime Provinces and New England all the way down to the Florida Keys—stopping at nearly every scenic rail-trail destination along the way. In fact, we spent a decade enjoying the fabulous campgrounds of the Florida Keys in this coach, which ultimately led us to purchase a permanent waterfront home on Florida Bay in Marathon—once owned by Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. We are only parting with this coach because our winters in the Keys finally led us to our permanent home in paradise. It is a bittersweet farewell to the coach that brought us here, and our hope is to pass her along to someone ready to experience those same barrier-free horizons.
