It works like a 20 minute timer on steroids! designed to study or work without procrastinating. Based on Pomodoro Technique, you can keep focused listening to soft music, checking your to do list, customizing the timer, and taking challenges to stay motivated, all with a clean and aesthetic design.

The Pomodoro Technique is used by people who need to focus on their activities to achieve certain goals.

Many of your favorite YouTubers, influencers and entrepreneurs are likely to use this technique to be more productive.

The attention span is the ability to concentrate on a single task, the greater our concentration, the easier it will be for us to do it.

Studies have estimated that this interval lasts approximately 20 minutes.

As a freelance writer, I am all about keeping myself productive. When deadlines are piling up, and I have serious writing to do, I turn to these tools time after time to get myself into high gear (or when I need to shift into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE, sorry, the inner child in me couldn't help but make a Spongebob Squarepants reference.)

On a more serious note, if you are looking to take your productivity to the next level, read on. I have also written a more in-depth review of all the tools I use as a freelance writer, so check that post out after you have read this one.

A few months ago Brain.fm was suggested in a freelance writing group I am a part of on Facebook. I tried it because I am always looking for more background music (without lyrics) and I was honestly so impressed by the music the first night I tried it. During that night, I got so much done, and it was honestly a blessing because I needed to get to work.

Brain.fm is perfect if you have a hard time working to traditional music. I would love nothing more than to blast Hamilton in my ears all day, but then that becomes a Hamilton sing-along and not an actual productive day. Brain.fm offers five free sessions so you can test out the service to see if it's something you love. After that, there are a few plans you can choose from:

Brain.fm is fantastic because the music they produce is lyric-free and designed by an AI music composer. They created an AI that could mix science and music in a way that genuinely helps you feel the music and get more done.

What I love most about Brain.fm are the vast stations that have created. You can use Brain.fm in five main categories on the application: focus, meditate, sleep, recharge, and relax. Each category has multiple stations, and they are always releasing more. In fact, they just released the "Grooves Focus" station that is inspired by lo-fi hip-hop.

FocusKeeper is an application in the Apple store. The paid version is $1.99, but it's honestly the best application I have ever paid for. There is also a free version of FocusKeeper if you don't want to pay the fee.

FocusKeeper, essentially, helps you keep up with the pomodoro cycle. You can do this with the timer app on your phone, but I like that the FocusKeeper app does it all for me and that I don't have to continuously cycle through the 25 and 5-minute timer on my iPhone.

The most important part of the pomodoro process is FOCUS. You need to be focused on a single task (preferably) OR a set of tasks for the length of the pomodoro. Before you start your session, you should know what you are going to be doing. Procrastination and pomodoro sessions do not mix. So, before I start a session, I have my to-do list out, and I find the exact thing I will work on for that session whether it's writing an article, checking my email, applying for freelance jobs, or something else entirely. Having that knowledge allows you to get to work as soon as you start the pomodoro session timer, instead of twiddling your thumbs.

What makes FocusKeeper Pro stand out is the customization that's possible. One of my favorite customizations is the fact that you can change your music. I don't have any music happening during my sessions (I am usually using Brain.fm to supply music), but during my short breaks, I want something upbeat. I typically play a Beyonce song during my five-minute breaks. During my long breaks, I usually have silence because I want to read, watch TV, or eat during my long breaks. With FocusKeeper Pro you can also change the length of your pomodoros, the colors associated with your sessions, and so much more.

There are so many planners (online and off), but one I keep going to (besides my trusty physical Erin Condren planner) is Asana. Some entrepreneurs swear by Trello, but I could never get it to work for me because I am not a huge fan of the card style that it uses to organize things.

I love that Asana is more calendar-based, although, they do have a cards function for people who think that way. I function better when I can see the tasks I need to complete laid out in a calendar view. Trello was too creative for me, if I am honest. I don't like creating fancy designs or designing which cards matter, show me what I need to do and when. That's why I love Asana and use the website and application on a daily basis.

Writing things down whether on paper or in an application is imperative! You are a human which means there is a massive chance for error on your part. Having an app telling you what's due and when is helpful as you create content for yourself and your clients.

Asana is free by default for up to 15 team members which I think is fantastic. You most likely won't need the premium version if you are just one freelancer or blogger. You can upgrade to Asana Premium, but you can't do so if you are just a solopreneur. You need to pay for at least five team members if you are planning to upgrade. It's $7.50/member/month paid monthly OR $6.25/member/month paid annually. Remember, you HAVE to pay for five team members at minimum to upgrade to Asana Premium.

Productivity is an essential part of life no matter if you are working from home or working for a company. Today I discussed the tools that keep me productive as a freelance writer and blogger every day. 152ee80cbc
