Schopwick Garden Party Event

In conjunction with the Guides we will be holding a garden party event at Schopwick House in Elstree. This is the former home of Sir Percy Everett who as Assistant Chief Scout helped the first Scouts, and we are grateful to the current owners to offer their garden for this event. This will be held on Sunday 16th June 2019 from 2-5pm for all Scouting and Guiding members. All former 1st Radlett Scouts and Radlett Girlguiding members are welcome to come to the event from 4pm-5pm, with an option of browsing from 3pm.

Our younger members will be taking part in activities between 2pm and 4pm. This will be followed by a ‘coming together’ for everyone at 4pm when birthday cake will be cut, there will be some presentations and some words will be said. This will be followed by a picnic for families and afternoon tea for guests in the grounds.

Guests are very welcome to come along at any point after 3pm if they would like to wander around the grounds and see what the young members are up to. Otherwise, you can join us for the 4pm ‘coming together’. The afternoon will end at 5pm for everybody. Please email us on centenary.1stradlett@gmail.com as soon as possible if you wish to attend this, and we expect this will be more suited to those who are still more local to Radlett.

The event is for families with their children, particularly with their fathers being Fathers’ Day. There will be a range of different bases for families to go around. The afternoon will conclude with a coming together with cake and some words will be said. From 4:30pm families will enjoy their picnics in the gardens.

Further details (including supervision arrangements where the section leaders will not be present):

Full uniform must be worn by all children.

Wear sensible shoes for active outdoor activities (some woodland trails etc).

Bring a picnic tea, plenty of drinks and waterproofs/sunhats/suncream as appropriate to the weather conditions at the time. Families should bring a picnic for the end of the celebrations to enjoy in the gardens.

We would like as many young people to attend as possible. Leaders will be running bases so we may not be able to look after unaccompanied members so would like to encourage families to attend some or all of this special event. If only your young person is able to attend, maybe ask around if anyone can supervise them.

Please advise of any allergies or dietary requirements for the cake and cooking activities.

All former Girlguiding and Scouting members and friends are welcome to join us to browse from 3pm and join for the more formal part from 4-5pm. There will be refreshments for these guests.
