Ken Wester - Det B at Fort Bragg Nov 77 - Apr 79 (Motor Pool) and then Det A at Shaw AFB Apr 79 - Jun 81
I remember a lot of the names mentioned above and those old barracks where my first home at Bragg. Bill Skinner was my CO while at Shaw, I was the Motor Sergeant before I left, Bill Fowler (AKA The Atlanta Falcon) was the 1SG . I Attend the Air Force NCO Academy at Shaw and graduated with Top Honors causing a big party to ensue at Shaw with brass from Bragg coming in to celebrate. I still have a Letter of Commendation signed by then MAJ Skinner (DET A), LTC Rea (1ST MI) and COL Harmon (525 MI) for one of President Reagan's Inaugurations (we did both). Some of the things we keep! I've got some photos of that time I can post also. Small world item, in 1999 I got a new boss at my job at Arkansas Tech University (Computer Guy - who knew) and it just happened to be then retired Maj. Gen. William E. Harmon, I told him he seemed very familiar and I was able to dig up that Letter and show him his signature. We both remember well the death of LTC Rea and those long Fort Bragg runs. I left the Army in 1988 after Germany and went back to college, I should have done more of the Image Interpreter cross training,I sure enjoyed it, put that with COMSEC and it made me a good Network Security guy.
