Jim Myers, Det D II, 7/71 – 3/72
Det D moved from Na Trang to Pleiku before I got there in mid-71. Not sure when it moved. The Det consisted of an O-3 company commander (if I remember his dad was a GO and he was an aviator), an imagery warrant, a clerk, a mechanic and me. I spent most of my time doing the aerial observer thing rather than strictly imagery work.
Det D was located on the Team 21 compound in Pleiku when I arrived in late summer of '71. The compound sat between the Pink Palace which was the II Corps Hqs and the tropo antenna which made it really easy for the VC to target the compound. I was sent up there from Bien Hoa as there was no enlisted imagery interpreter in the Det at that time. Can only remember the name of the Det Clerk, something like Sp5 Balazi but my spelling could be wrong.
Was going though some of my enlisted records and came up with some orders dated 18 Jan 1972 these are folks assigned:
Cpt James Wilson, Detachment Commander
CW2 Hugh R. Gary, Imagery Tech
SP5 Lloyd W. Grissom, Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic
PFC Michael Smith, Clerk-Typist
SP4 James Myers, Imagery Analyst
