INDIAN LAKE ESTATES - Peter Ward O' Neil, 67, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at his residence in Indian Lake Estates due to heart failure.

Born December 5, 1940 in New Port, RI, he came here from Vero Beach in 2002. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Elks Club and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne O' Neil of Indian Lake Estates; daughters, Shannon Tooley of Sierra Vista, AZ, Kelly Sullivan of New Jersey and Tiffany Kines of Rixeyville, VA; sons, Michael O' Neil of Maryland and Patrick O' Neil of Massena, NY; brother, Paul O' Neil of Middletown, RI; sisters, Ellen Siegler of Houston, TX, Kathy O' Neil of St. Augustine, FL and Maureen Jordan O' Neil of New Port, RI; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 10 30 AM, Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales.

Unfortunately I never got the chance to meet Pete. We did talk on the phone numerous times about our times in Vietnam, the first MIBARS reunion coming up in August 2008 and where we (MIBARS) were headed in the future. Pete was so excited about what we, the MIBARS community, were doing and wanted to help in any way he could. He truly enjoyed his time with MIBARS in Vietnam and I'm sure he would have enjoyed MIBARS again today.

I was looking forward to meeting Pete at the reunion and enjoying his enthusiasm.
