BRC is a 3 Phase Course introduces the candidates to the amphibious reconnaissance environment. During this tenure, they gain working knowledge of the reconnaissance doctrines, concepts and techniques that emphasize ground and amphibious reconnaissance missions. They also learn the fundamentals of all types of weapons (air, sea, and land) that are employed in supporting arms such as calling and adjusting naval gunfire, artillery, and close air support.
BRC consists of a Patrol Phase, a Waterborne Phase and a Ground Reconnaissance Phase. After the Candidate has finished all three phases, an evaluation will be held.
The Evaluation of Candidates is done by putting the Candidates in key positions and letting them execute an operation typical to FORECON.
In order to become a qualified Recon Marine, the Candidate must:
Acknowledge the Recon Creed and live up to it at least moderately.
Master at least 1 and not fail more than 1 of the following skills:
Radio Communication
Patrolling
Land/Maritime Navigation
Coxswain/Boat Crew
Reconnaissance & Surveillance Technique
Call for Fire
Grading during Evaluation is done with three gradings:
Fail
Moderate
Master
