Datuk Dr. Zanariah Hussein is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Physician at Hospital Putrajaya, where she is the Head of the Endocrinology Subspecialty Service. She obtained an MBBS from the University of Malaya and an MRCP from Edinburgh, UK. She holds various educational administrative positions including the Chairperson for the Endocrine Fellowship Training Program, Honorary Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine UiTM, UKM, and UM as well as a member and Ministry of Health representative for the Specialty Conjoint Board for Masters of Internal Medicine.
Datuk Dr. Zanariah is an active member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society, the Asia Pacific Neuroendocrine Tumour Society, the National Diabetes Institute, The Endocrine Society, USA, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. She is and has been an Investigator and Co-Investigator in over 40 multicentre clinical trials and has published in over 50 national and international peer-reviewed journals.
She is a consultant physician and endocrinologist, currently serving in Hospital Putrajaya. She obtained her medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Malaya in 1994. Later, she pursued her postgraduate studies in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, graduating with a Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in 2002. She is now the Head of Department of the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) in Hospital Putrajaya and is appointed Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society. Dr Nurain has a strong passion in raising health awareness among the general public, as she was one of the panelists on the media dialogue on Women and Health organised by the New Straits Times in 2017.
Dr. Janet Hong Yeow Hua is a highly accomplished and dedicated Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist based at Hospital Putrajaya (HPj) in Putrajaya. With a wealth of experience in the field of Paediatric Endocrinology, she has made significant contributions to the medical community in Malaysia.
Dr. Janet Hong currently holds multiple positions, showcasing her expertise and leadership abilities. She serves as the Head of the Pediatric Department at Hospital Putrajaya and also holds the prestigious role of Head of the Paediatric Endocrine Subspecialty at the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia. Furthermore, she plays a vital role as an educational trainer for the National Paediatric Endocrine Subspecialty Training program under the Ministry of Health. Her commitment to rare diseases is evident as she has been elected as a member of the Ministry of Health Rare Disease Committee.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Janet Hong actively participates in professional organizations. She serves as the Deputy Chairperson for the Malaysian Pediatric Endocrine & Diabetes Group (MPEDG) and is an Executive Council member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS).
Dr. Janet Hong's research and publications further highlight her expertise and dedication. She has contributed to peer-reviewed journals with her work on topics such as mineral status in children following intravenous zoledronic acid, national databases on children and adolescents with diabetes, and genetic mutations causing hypoglycemia. Her research extends to exploring the association between self-care practices, HbA1c levels, and the quality of life for children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes.
Dr. Janet Hong Yeow Hua's outstanding contributions to the field of Paediatric Endocrinology, both in clinical practice and research, make her a respected and highly sought-after professional in her field.
Prof Yazid completed his fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), USA in 2009 after obtaining his MBBS in 1997 and Masters of Paediatrics in 2004, both from University Malaya. In 2010 he was awarded as a Certified Paediatric Endocrinologist by the National Specialist Register (Malaysia).
He has been a member of various medical societies, including The Endocrine Society USA, International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD), Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) and the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS) as well as a life-member of the Malaysian Paediatric Association (MPA). He is currently the President of the Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) 2018-2020 and the Immediate Past President of the Malaysian Paediatric Association (MPA) 2019-2021.
Dr. Navin has 15 years of experience as a Diabetes Care Clinical Pharmacist managing medication-related problems of type 2 diabetes patients mainly medication adherence, insulin dosage adjustments, injection technique, and hypoglycemia management. He works as a member of the Hospital Putrajaya's Endocrine Team comprising consultant endocrinologists, dieticians, and diabetes educators. His research area is mainly in the field of diabetes, particularly the clinical response to antidiabetic therapy and sulphonylurea pharmacogenomics. He has presented his research at several international conferences including that of the American Diabetes Association and International Diabetes Federation. Dr. Navin is also among the 20 global recipients of the 'Next Generation Scientist Award 2016' by the University of Basel, Switzerland. He has also received training at the Diabetes Research Program, New York University, the USA in the field of genetics of type 2 diabetes. Besides, he was conferred the 'Young Investigator Award' by the National Diabetes Institute of Malaysia in 2009. He is currently the Chairman of the Diabetes Clinical Pharmacy Subcommittee, Ministry of Health, Malaysia. He has also been appointed as the Advisor for the Practice Transformation Programme – Diabetes by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) in 2021 which is responsible for strengthening the role of pharmacists in diabetes management across the world.
Graduated with Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Master of Clinical Pharmacy from University Science of Malaysia, and Doctor of Philosophy (Medicine & Therapeutics from University of Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Research and educational expertise include pharmaceutical care, clinical pharmacy practice, clinical pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, treatment optimisation through enhancement of medication adherence. Pioneer in clinical pharmacy education and training in Malaysia. Recipient of Anugerah Akademik Negara 2017 (National Academic Award) for teaching excellent in health sciences. More than 80 journal articles were published related to the expertise. Delivered more than 25 invited talks as keynote, plenary and invited speaker in local and international conferences. Lead various research projects with total value of more than RM1.5 million. Supervised many master`s and PhD`s students in related field of interest.
Dr Jeanne Wong Sze Lyn specialises in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Endocrinology. She graduated with distinction from University of Malaya in 2004, completed her paediatric specialist examinations (MRCPCH UK) in 2009, and sub-specialty fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology (Malaysia, Sydney Australia) in 2016. She consults neonatal and childhood diseases and endocrine conditions (age 0-18 years) which include diabetes, disorders in thyroid, growth, puberty, bone, calcium, pituitary, adrenal, hypoglycaemia, obesity and sex development. Dr Jeanne has a special interest in children’s health education.
She is a contributing author of the Malaysian Paediatric Protocol; Malaysia Clinical Practice Guidelines for Management of Thyroid Disorders; Consensus Guidelines on Congenital Hypothyroidism in Malaysia and a monthly contributor on the Sunday Star newspaper’s health column titled Hormones and Kids. Her journal publications include that on diabetes & thyroid. She is in the National Specialist Register (NSR) Paediatric Endocrine Subcommittee; Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) & Malaysian Paediatric Life Support (MPLS) instructor and Head of the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrine Diabetes Group (MPEDG) Publicity & Website committee. She was a recipient of the Penang State & Putrajaya Federal Territory Health Department Excellence Award for service in the Paediatric Department in Penang General Hospital, Seberang Jaya Hospital and Putrajaya Hospital in 2008, 2011 and 2019 respectively.
Professor Dr Hasniza Zaman Huri has been the founder Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya since 1 September 2019, and a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Precision Medicine in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice.
Professor Dr Hasniza and Diabetes are inseparable. She has ventured into translational Diabetes Research from bench to bedside for almost 20 years. Her research covers targeted therapy in endocrine diseases, clinical pharmacy, and precision health. Professor Dr Hasniza is also an expert in the clinical trial industry. She has published over 85 papers indexed in WOS in her area of expertise. She held various critical administrative posts, including the Manager of Clinical Investigation Centre (CIC) from 2012-2015 and was later appointed as the Director/Head of CIC (2015-2019). CIC, University Malaya Medical Centre is a world-class, reputable and multi- winning clinical trial centre. CIC has won many accolades at the international level, procured around 590 clinical trials, and worked with 300 pharmaceutical sponsors and CROs worldwide. Under her tenure, CIC is recognized as the first Prime Site for Quintiles (now IQVIA) in Asia, the first Strategic Alliance Site for Parexel Inc in Malaysia, Pfizer’s INSPIRE (Investigator Networks, Site Partnerships and Infrastructure for Research Excellence) Site in Malaysia and the Best Clinical Trial Service Provider in Asia. She is also the Honorary Visiting Consultant at CIC and a member of the Drug Control Authority (DCA) Ministry of Health, Malaysia
Azraai Bahari bin Nasruddin is a Consultant Endocrinologist currently practising in Hospital Putrajaya.
He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2001, became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003 and completed his subspecialisation in Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine in 2010.
He worked as a consultant in the UK for four years before returning to Malaysia in December 2013. He has a wide interest in clinical endocrinology especially in pituitary and thyroid disease.
He also has a special interest in the use of IT in healthcare and holds a diploma in Health Informatics. Currently he also has responsibility as head of Infection Control at Putrajaya Hospital
She is a Senior Lecturer and Paediatric Endocrinologist in Universiti Putra Malaysia. She previously completed her paediatric endocrinology training in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore.
Her research is mainly on Turner syndrome and she has special interest in growth and puberty disorders, thyroid disorders, bone and calcium metabolic disorders and childhood diabetes. She is a member of Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS) and Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) and is actively involved in the activities of MEMS
Dr Rashdan Zaki bin Mohamed, experienced consultant paediatrician, specialising in child’s and adolescent’s health, especially in the field of endocrinology. He manages children with growth failure, thyroid diseases, pubertal disorder, obesity, diabetes, and other endocrine-related problems. He is also a very gentle paediatrician, caring for sick children, and focusing on child’s well-being including growth, development, nutrition, and immunisation.
He received his primary medical degree (MBBS) from University of Malaya in 2004 and completed his Master of Paediatrics (MPAEDS) in 2013, from the same university. He started his subspeciality training in paediatric endocrinology and diabetology back in 2015, trained both locally, as well as from the esteemed National University Hospital Singapore (NUHS). He is a registered paediatrician and paediatric endocrinologist (NSR), and certified Advanced Paediatric Life Support Instructor (United Kingdom).
He plays a very active role in social media, promoting and advocating child’s health and safety. His articles have been featured in national dailies and he also has appeared in various talk shows. Having featured as an anecdote writer in a novel, academically, he has published numerous research papers in renowned medical journals as well.
Dr Hadijah is a registered pharmacist with two decades of stellar contribution in clinical and research pharmacy. She obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) from University Sains Malaysia (Hons) in the year 2001. She then pursued her Master in Clinical Pharmacy at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and obtained her Good Clinical Practice in the year 2007.
She further obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences in the year 2009 and currently contributing her expertise and expansive knowledge in geriatric medicine at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Dedicated personnel with various involvements in both research and clinical practice, she has participated in the 17th Asian Clinical Conference on Clinical Pharmacist 2017 presenting on Medication-Induced Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) in Malaysia Elderly Population. The research has been awarded as Runner-Up for Best Presentation Award in 1st Post graduate Research Colloquium (PGRC) in 2017. She has also published numerous research and articles pertaining to general and geriatric pharmacy practices through her year practicing as pharmacist.
Dr Vijiya Mala is a consultant endocrinologist from Putrajaya Hospital.
She completed her MBBS from University Malaya in 2001 and further her MRCP in UK 2007. She then pursued her training in Endocrinology in 2014.
She has been a consultant endocrinologist in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Ampang Hospital and now in Putrajaya Hospital since 2018.
Her area of interests includes Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, diabetes related complications, use of technology in people with diabetes and particularly in foot care in people with diabetes.
Dr. Nalini M Selveindran graduated from University of Malaya with honours in 2001 and subsequently obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2006. She subsequently completed her fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Children’s Hospital of Westmead, Sydney in 2015. She is currently a consultant paediatric endocrinologist at the Hospital Putrajaya, a major referral hospital for endocrine disorders in Malaysia
She is currently a member of various medical societies, including the International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD), European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) and Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS).
She is involved in training and teaching and and is involved in the development of guidelines on the management of congenital hypothyroidism and childhood obesity., Dr. Nalini’s work has been published in various academic journals and she is also involved in multicentre international research for type 2 diabetes in children. She has numerous experiences presenting in conferences and workshops locally and abroad and has won various awards for her work. She has also received the Travel Grant to the International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) Annual Congress in Brisbane, 2015.
Ms Won Zi Yun is a dedicated pharmacist with expertise in pediatric pharmacy, currently serving at Hospital Putrajaya. In her role as the appointed secretary of the Paediatric Pharmacy Working Committee from 2016 to 2017, I successfully contributed to the committee's objectives.
She has a diverse range of experiences in pediatric pharmacy practice. As a Diabetes Medication Therapy Adherence Clinic (DMTAC) pharmacist, she provides comprehensive medication management for diabetic patients. Additionally, she excelled as an aseptic production (TPN) pharmacist and acted as a preceptor for pharmacy students in the field.
Having served as the pioneer Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) ward pharmacist in HPj, she played a pivotal role in developing local practice guidelines. These guidelines included the NICU Dosing Protocol, Paediatric/NICU Drug Dilution Protocol, NICU Analgesic and Sedation Guideline, and NICU Skin Antiseptic Guidelines. Furthermore,she completed a Paediatric Clinical Pharmacy attachment at the Paediatric Institute, Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
She also been involved in Quality Assurance (QA) initiatives, attending the Training of Trainers (TOT) course and leading a QA study on "Reducing Pediatric Medication Error," which earned her the 1st prize at the Mini Convention QA JKWP KL&P.
Madam Nurniza bt Nisbar is a qualified pharmacist with a strong academic background and extensive experience in various healthcare settings. She graduated with honors, receiving a Master of Pharmacy from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom in 2006. She further pursued her education and obtained a Master of Clinical Pharmacy in 2014 from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).
Throughout her career, she has worked in esteemed institutions such as Hospital Tg Ampuan Afzan Kuantan, Hospital Sg Buloh, and PKD Petaling. Currently, she serves as a NICU Pharmacist at Hospital Putrajaya and hold the position of Head of Unit for Ward Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacokinetics. Since 2016, she been the state representative of Clinical Working Committee (Ward Pharmacy), actively contributing to the development of local facility protocols and guidelines.
She takes pride in her involvement in important projects, including the creation of essential resources such as the Paediatric Dose Handy Dosing Card, NICU Drug Database, and Hospital Drug Dilution guidelines. Additionally, she has participated in multicentre research projects under the Clinical Working Committee, showcasing her dedication to advancing pharmaceutical knowledge and practices.
Dr Rizah Mazzuin Razali is a Consultant Geriatrician at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, where she is the Head of Geriatric Unit & Internal Medicine Physician Department of Medicine. She obtained her MBBS in 1999 and Master of Internal Medicine in 2009, both from University of Malaya. As a guest lecturer at Sunway University and an adjunct lecturer at University Putra Malaysia she shares her knowledge and expertise with students.
She also holds administrative position in Subspecialty Education Subcommittees for Geriatric Medicine, Medical Education Committee; Human Resources and Planning, Geriatric Service Malaysia; Entry Selection Committee and Curriculum Review Committee for Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine as well as a member of Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine.
Dr Rizah actively involved in clinical research. She has presented more than 50 research studies and published more than 20 journals related to the expertise. She was also the external reviewer for Malaysia Clinical Practice Guideline: Management of Ischaemic Stroke. She obtained Excellent Service Award of Ministry of Health in Hospital Kuala Lumpur in year 2016 and 2021.
