Hoping to serve his grandma's old recipes, William Schell bought the residential property adjacent to his HVAC business in 2000 and opened a diner. That first restaurant at 1869 Washington Road was called "What Bill Likes" and was the first of many to come and go at the location.
What Bill Likes opened in 2002 and got very positive reviews for its tasty, albeit simple, food. The restaurant closed by the end of 2005.
In February 2006, restaurant veterans Bill and Lynne Cummins opened Cummins Restaurant on the spot. The public reaction to the Cummins' move to Washington was so strong that an entire backroom had to be added in the first few months. The restaurant remained a popular grub spot until early 2017 when it was sold, and Cummins Restaurant moved to East Peoria.
The new restaurant at 1869 Washington was called The Corner. It didn't last six months.
The Corner was sold to Misty Kaufman in August 2017, and "Misty's" became the new establishment for two years.
Upon Misty's departure, Cummins surprisingly returned to their old stomping grounds and remained for two years before moving to their final location on Eastgate Drive, now Sheryl's Cafe.
After Cummins left in 2021, the building sat vacant for a few years. In 2024, Tony Lahood tried to bring Cranwill's Drive-In to town. Cranwill's experienced a myriad of problems and survived a mere three months. The building sits empty again.
