Years have passed since you first started your journey. Before, you were living in a poor village but now you have obtained wealth, land and respect. You have had many dealings in diamonds with partners in the Dutch East India Company and your reputation amongst the local people is outstanding.
This has prompted the Dutch to recommend you to the Sultan to be appointed as one of the ministers in exchange for furthering their influence in Banjarmasin.
Do you choose to accept their offer?
During Sultan Adam's rule during the 19th century, the Dutch made an agreement with the Javanese, which gave them the following powers:
1) The Netherlands East Indies government reserved the right to appoint members of the imperial family who they preferred, who showed a clear defense of Netherlands politics, to be the crown prince;
(2) The Netherlands East Indies government also reserved the right to appoint preferred people to be Mangkubumi
(The Mangkubumi was the title Individual who took care of the day to day administration of the Sultanate.)
(3) The Sultanate was not allowed to send a messenger or a letter to a foreign third party without permission from the government of the Netherlands East Indies.
(4) The Netherlands East Indies government would protect the Sultan from local and abroad enemies
