Statement on Generative AI

At The 17 Months Team, we believe in the power of human storytelling. Every piece of narrative content, every line of dialogue, character arc, worldbuilding element, and plot twist, is the result of collaborative, human-driven creative sessions. Generative AI is never involved in any part of our writing process. Our storylines, scripts, and character developments are conceived, written, and refined entirely by people.

We do make limited and transparent use of generative AI tools, but only in cases where it is clearly directed, curated, and shaped by human input, specifically:

To assist in the production of promotional or atmospheric visuals, where the original concept and composition are handcrafted and the final output is reviewed and edited by the team.

To help develop audio or songs when human-written lyrics and melodies require digital augmentation or rendering tools. The creative direction, themes, and lyrics are always authored by the team before any generative process is applied.

We believe the soul of this project comes from our lived experiences, our friendships, our grief, our humor, and our ideas. We do not and will never use generative AI for story writing, character development, or emotional narrative construction.

Furthermore, we oppose the use of generative AI in visual art, particularly in ways that exploit the work of human artists without consent, compensation, or credit. We stand in solidarity with illustrators, designers, and concept artists who demand ethical standards, creative credit, and labor protections in the face of mass automation.

17 Months is a human project. We intend to keep it that way. We do not and will not profit from any AI-generated content; any use of AI is strictly non-commercial and creatively supplementary.
