On this page you'll learn about the materials you'll need for our Stat C1000 Online class. You'll also learn how to get started in Canvas.
In lieu of a traditional textbook we'll use the online learning materials available in our Interactive Statistics on Canvas (ISC) textbook. The textbook is the Canvas course for our Stat C1000 class - and it's free!
In this class, teaching and learning occur in an asynchronous 100% online environment. You will need reliable internet access and a computer to work through our materials on Canvas, watch videos, and meet with me on Zoom should you choose to visit during my student hours or schedule a one-on-one appointment. If you do not have access to a reliable computer and reliable Wi-Fi or if your computer or Wi-Fi is down, you'll need to visit a local library, Cuyamaca College, or another establishment that offers free access to a computer and/or Wi-Fi.
We will use StatCrunch to complete many of the peer-reviewed assignments in Canvas. Students typically pay a $19.99 textbook charge when they register for this course. The textbook charge covers the cost of StatCrunch. To learn more, see the Setting Up Your StatCrunch Account page in Module 1 of our Canvas course.
A TI-84 Graphing Calculator is required for this class. If you cannot purchase a TI-84, please contact the Cuyamaca College Library to learn how to check one out for the duration of this class.
