AI Automaton, Artwork
Concept & Objective: "AI Automatons" is a technical design study focusing on the application of rigorous industrial design aesthetics to anthropomorphic and abstract robotic forms generated by artificial intelligence. The primary objective is to take the fluid, sometimes chaotic, nature of AI-created robots and enforce a strict sense of manufacturability and functional logic. The project aims to reimagine what a highly optimized, Swiss Modernist robot would look like.
This project seeks to formalize the AI's creativity using established design language:
Functional Dissection: Each AI-generated form is digitally disassembled and rebuilt, ensuring every joint, actuator, and component has a logical, real-world purpose. This introduces schematic structure and visual honesty to the design.
Monochromatic Specification: The wide-ranging colors typical of AI generation are removed. The robots are rendered using a precise, controlled palette (e.g., matte black, brushed aluminum, safety orange accents) to evoke classic industrial design schematics.
Orthographic Presentation: The final images are presented as technical blueprints or product sheets. This involves imposing a complex grid and using precise, sans-serif typography (e.g., Helvetica Neue or Akzidenz-Grotesk) to label materials, dimensions, and operational specifications.
Deliverables: A curated series of 12 fully refined, print-ready robot schematics, and an accompanying printed booklet detailing the process and the design principles applied.
