Friday, March 14, 2025 - 70+ Men's & Women's Doubles

The weekend starts with a new competition event added to our tournament: Age 70+ Men's & Ladies Doubles!

All competitors who are age 70 or better on the day of competition are invited to find a partner and compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Based on registration, we'll have brackets and medals for Men's and Women's A, B and Open skill levels.

Saturday, March 15, 2025 - All-Ages Men's & Women's Doubles

Sunday, March 16, 2025 - Mixed Doubles

Sunday is the biggest competition day of the tournament with the three brackets of Mixed Doubles competition. 

• MIXED DOUBLES "B" AND 70+: CHECK-IN CLOSES at 8:30am SHARP. Be standing next to your partner at the check-in desk before 8:30am and you're in!

• MIXED DOUBLES "A" AND "OPEN": CHECK-IN CLOSES at 10am SHARP. Be standing next to your partner at the check-in desk before 10am and you're in!

• The tournament raffle drawing will be held before medals presentation after all competition has ended, probably around 2pm

• Then it's time for the post-play Happy Hour to celebrate the weekend!

Appearance by The King and Queen of Cypress Cove Mardi Gras

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! 

Be it known by all the Subjects of the Realm, and all visitors and travelers therein, Scoundrel and Squire, Peasant and Prince, Knave and Noble, that they shall give pause and attention to the King and Queen of Cypress Cove Mardi Gras, as His Royal Highness and Her Royal Majesty will grace the masses with their presence and grant their assent to our most humble and unworthy Tournament. 

It shall be done at the Noon Hour on Sunday, the 16th Day of March, in the riding of the Cypress Cove Pickleball Courts. 

Draw near and give ye thine attention and honor to the King and Queen!

Tournament Raffle

Be there around Noon on Sunday at the close of competition for the big tournament raffle drawing! There will be huge prizes to be won and a 50/50 cash drawing, plus a few surprises! You must be present to win in the 50/50 cash drawing, so don't miss it!

About Brackets

The tournament has three competition brackets:

“A” Bracket - Intermediate to advanced players, who regularly play and are competitive with the average players on the Intermediate to Advanced courts (A/B/C) every day. If you have a DUPR rating, it will be in the range of 3.25 to 4.2.

“B” Bracket - Beginner to intermediate players, who regularly play and are competitive with the average players on the Beginner to Intermediate courts (D/E/F) every day. If you have a DUPR rating, it will be 3.2 or below.

“Open” Bracket - Players with a skill level consistently better than “A” bracket players. If you have a DUPR rating, it will be above 4.2.

As with all skill-level tournaments, you are free to play with any partner you choose, but your team will be assigned to the bracket of the higher-skilled player. For example, if a solid “B” bracket player partners with an “Open” bracket player, the team will be assigned to the “Open” bracket.

Just to beat this into the ground, if you:

• Don’t have a rating

• Don’t know your rating

• Don’t know if you do or don’t have a rating

• Do know that you do have a rating, but you don’t know what it is

• Have never played in a tournament at Cypress Cove

• Think you might be an “A,” but not sure

• Think you might be a “B,” but not sure

• Think you might be an “Open,” but not sure

• Have no idea what any of this means, and just need a friend to talk to

• Have ANY QUESTION AT ALL about what bracket you will be assigned for the competition

All bracket assignments are at the discretion of the Tournament Directors.

For All Competitions:

• Visiting players will be asked to provide their DUPR rating at check-in in order to assign them to the proper bracket. Players with a DUPR doubles rating of 4.2 or above will be assigned to an “Open” bracket.

• The official tournament ball is the Vulcan VPRO Flight Outdoor ball in Hi-Viz Yellow.

• Play is governed by the rules of the 2025 USA Pickleball/IFP Official Rulebook.

Rain & weather delay procedure

• In case of rain or adverse weather on tournament day, we will take up to a 1-hour delay if needed. 

• After the first weather delay, the tournament director may take another 30-minute delay if they determine that conditions are likely to improve.

• At the end of the second delay, if there is no chance of completing the tournament safely, that day's tournament will be cancelled.
