Most travelers require a K-ETA (Korean Electronic Travel Authorization) in addition to a valid passport to enter South Korea for short-term stays (30-90 days depending on the country of passport issuance).

The K-ETA fee is ₩10,000 (approximately: $7 (USD), ¥1,000 (JPY), ¥50 (CNY), NT$200 (NTD)), and you can make the payment online.
The processing time is usually up to 72 hours, but may take longer.
If your country of passport issuance is NOT listed on the K-ETA ‘Eligible Countries List’, you must apply for a Short-Term General C-3-1 Visa at a Korean embassy in your country of residence.
To apply for this visa, you will require:
Valid passport
Photograph (natural color 3.5cmx4.5cm)
Visa application form
A document or invitation letter demonstrating the purpose of entry

The fee for a single-entry visa with a total stay of 90 days or less is $40 (USD)
***The visa fee for Vietnamese passport holders is $30 (USD), ₫800,000 (VTD)***
The processing time for a C-3-1 visa is up to 4 weeks
