Catsmeat enters and tells Bertie that he is to be called Meadows, as he is playing Bertie's valet because the appearance of Jeeves as Bertie's valet would arouse suspicion with Silversmith, being his uncle. Catsmeat had help from Queenie Silversmith, Charly Silversmith's niece and fiancée of constable Ernest Dobbs in settling into the servants'quarters and explained that he came to Deverill Hall because he had nowhere else to stay. Bertie informs Catsmeat that Haddock just stays close to Gertrude to make Corky jealous, which is a big relief to him. Bertie instructs Catsmeat to contact Corky to find a replacement for him in the role of Pat in the sketch. After a good night's sleep Bertie is awakened by Silversmith bringing him tea and telling him that last night mr. Wooster had arrived at the Hall. A short while thereafter Jeeves appears with the breakfast tray.
