Catsmeat goes to London to ask Jeeves'advice. Jeeves suggests that if Aunt Agatha should hear that Tosh has run away from school she will defer her visit to Deverill and try to find out where he is gone to. To entice Tosh to leave his school Jeeves will tell him that his favorite actress - Corky - is staying at the vicarage in Deverill. Catsmeat agrees to the scheme and has already informed Corky of Tosh's coming, and will now take Queenie out to the cinema to console her broken heart over Dobbs. Then Silversmith comes in with two telegrams for Gussie. Bertie initially refuses to open them because he is only impersonating Gussie, but after Catsmeat has left his curiosity gets the better of him and he opens them anyway, finding out that Madeline will be arriving at Deverill Hall the following day.
