Mr. Stoker invites all to his yacht for his son's birthday party. Pauline shows up at the bushes where Bertie is waiting and he, seeing a white hat nearby and taking it for Chuffy's, kisses Pauline in sight of the hat-bearer, who turns out to be her father. Pauline is escorted away. Jeeves reports a fight between the two boys where Lady Chuffnell intervened bij smacking Dwight Stoker, upon which mr. Stoker kicked Seabury Chuffnell, the end result being that the party on the yacht is called off as well as the estate deal, Sir Roderick having been forced by Lady Chuffnell to take her side. The Stokers leave for the yacht where Pauline is locked up to prevent her from seeing Bertie. Sir Roderick moves to a nearby hotel. Chuffy, assured by Bertie that there was nothing between him and Pauline, writes her a love letter which is delivered by Jeeves. Bertie dines out and on returning finds Pauline in his bed.
