Jeeves is on holiday and Bertie stays at Brinkley Court. Also staying are the Snettishams and Mr. Anstruther, an old  friend of the family, who has offered a Good Conduct prize to either young Thomas Gregson or young Bonzo Travers, also  present. Aunt Dahlia has bet Anatole on Bonzo, and Lady Snettisham has bet her kitchen-maid on Thomas. Things are not  looking good for Bonzo until Jeeves is called back from his holiday and uses Thomas'adoration of Greta Garbo to have him  disqualified through the newly invited Sebastian Moon debasing the star, causing Thomas to accidentally empty a bucket  of water on Mr. Anstruther and losing the contest.
