Bertie's betrothed Florence wants him to prevent her father (and Bertie's uncle) Willoughby to publish his "Recollections  of a Long Life" because of the supposedly scandalous contents. Jeeves rescues Bertie from Florence and secures his own  position at the same time by having the manuscript sent off to the publisher anyway.
