Jeeves leaves on vacation and Bertie gets a telephone call from Lady Wickham who is overcome by emotion and faints during the call. On preparing for his stay at Brinkley Bertie leafs through the Times and stumbles upon the announcement of his own engagement with Lady Wickham's daughter Roberta, Bobbie to Bertie.
