After informing a skeptical Jeeves of the upcoming events Bertie moves to the lake, where Kipper has taken up his position. Wilbert Cream shows up with Poppet, Phyllis Mills´ dachshund and questions Bertie about him searching his room for the missing cow creamer. Bobbie and Aubrey Upjohn arrive, and Bobbie tries to interest Upjohn in a big fish supposedly swimming in the lake. Then Phyllis Mills appears with the cat Augustus and tells Upjohn that his lawyer wants him on the telephone. She drops Augustus, who is immediately chased by Poppet, and in the resulting melée the dog, Wilbert and Bertie all end up in the lake, where Bertie is fished out of by Kipper.
