The printer failure error occurs due to various reasons. It can be resolved by following these steps.
Check the carriage part for any obstruction.
Disconnect the power cord from the rear end of the HP printer opens the door to access the carriage inside the printer.
Check the carriage path for debris or crumpled paper remove them.
Move the carriage to each side making sure it moves freely.
Close the carriage access door reconnect the power cord to the rear end of the printer and then switch on the printer.

With the printer turned on disconnect the power cord from the printer.
Remove the power cord from the power source and wait for 60 seconds.
