Printify's cards are too flimsy for my taste - before COVID19 I had my own cards printed and sold them myself from my store and they were good quality - Printify's simply didn't compare - the card stock was way too flimsy and the scoring/folding too careless. I also wasn't keen on the packaging etc. When I'm trying something I get a friend to order them so that I can see the whole thing from the point of view of the customer and not just a sample sent directly to me, in which case I won't see what customers will see.

Gooten enraged me yesterday - I won't bore you with the details, but when I wrote the above post I was still in a huff with it - I went back to it and I don't know if I have it sorted out properly for any future listings (if there are any), but I did finally manage to wrestle a listing up in my store. My friend has now ordered a pack of cards and I await delivery before deciding about them.

Same problem here, checked Gooten, the double side option looked great, but then I checked the shipping, up to 12$ to ship internationally... for one card! I sent them a mail and the reply was basically they don't know when they'll be able to lower the shipping price. In reality I think they're just pricing the cards low and making their profit on shipping.

Gooten makes beautiful cards, but their shipping is OUTRAGEOUS! It's gone up even more since the holidays and I was almost in tears this morning over the shipping costs. I'm feeling trapped right now as my company is just getting going and there is a retail store that wants to sell my cards, but shipping was over $100 for cards!!! And they are coming from the next state over.

Has anyone found the magic place to go with? I used to print my own cards but my printer was crashing too frequently. I have to admit I feel totally discouraged with everyone having bad reviews with POD Maybe one day someone will find the right spot!

Amazingly, I found that my local printer was able to provide me with my notecards at a cheaper rate than many print on demand companies. Check with your local print company and you might be pleasantly surprised. Of course you would have to ship yourself but then you get to control shipping and packaging. I like that too.

I love that you're looking into sourcing eco-friendly products; it's great to see climate conscious merchants! While we have quite a few print-on-demand apps in the Shopify App Store, I did manage to find a few that offer square greeting cards, with a couple of them specializing in sustainability. Here's a few options I suggest looking into:

I ordered 3 of these cards for my girlfriends for Christmas and they did not disappoint LOL

All 3 cards worked perfectly, drove them all nuts until they ripped them open ?

They all appreciated the joke and they're all still cleaning up the confetti, it keeps turning up ? Thanks so much, keep going with new ideas, I'm now a customer for life LOL

A greeting card is a piece of card stock, usually with an illustration or photo, made of high quality paper featuring an expression of friendship or other sentiment. Although greeting cards are usually given on special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas or other holidays, such as Halloween, they are also sent to convey thanks or express other feelings (such as condolences or best wishes to get well from illness).

Greeting cards are usually packaged using an envelope and come in a variety of styles. There are both mass-produced and handmade versions available and they may be distributed by hundreds of companies large and small. While typically inexpensive, more elaborate cards with die-cuts, pop-ups, sound elements or glued-on decorations may be more expensive.

In Western countries and increasingly in other societies, many people traditionally mail seasonally themed cards to their friends and relatives in December. Many service businesses also send cards to their customers in this season, usually with a universally acceptable non-religious message such as "happy holidays" or "season's greetings."

By the 1850s, the greeting card had been transformed from a relatively expensive, handmade and hand-delivered gift to a popular and affordable means of personal communication, due largely to advances in printing, mechanization, and a reduction in postal rates with the introduction of the postage stamp.[15] This was followed by new trends like Christmas cards, the first of which appeared in published form in London in 1843 when Sir Henry Cole hired artist John Calcott Horsley to design a holiday card that he could send to his friends and acquaintances. In the 1860s, companies like Marcus Ward & Co, Charles Goodall & Son, and Charles Bennett began the mass production of greeting cards. They employed well-known artists such as Kate Greenaway and Walter Crane as illustrators and card designers. The extensive Laura Seddon Greeting Card Collection from the Manchester Metropolitan University gathers 32,000 Victorian and Edwardian greeting cards and 450 Valentine's Day cards dating from the early nineteenth century, printed by the major publishers of the day.[16]

Technical developments like color lithography in 1930 propelled the manufactured greeting card industry forward. Humorous greeting cards, known as studio cards, became popular in the late 1940s and 1950s.

During the 1980s, reduced costs of small batch printing and die cutting together with a growing taste for handmade cards made it economically possible for smaller niche companies to set up in competition with the large established brands. Innovative companies such as Nobleworks and Meri Meri[17] grew from their foundation in the 1980s to becoming significant influencers in the industry. A thriving market was established for what were now called "alternative" greeting cards. The name stuck even though these "alternative" cards grew to embrace a vast range of styles and ultimately changed the look of the industry.

In the United Kingdom, it is estimated that one billion pounds are spent on greeting cards every year, with the average person sending 55 cards per year.[18] In the United States, approximately 6.5 billion greeting cards are bought each year, at a total cost of more than US$7 billion.[1]

Since 1988, the Greeting Card Association has held an annual award ceremony for the best greetings cards published that year. The awards are called Louies in recognition of Louis Prang, described as the Father of the American Christmas Card.[20]

Postcards, which are single-sided without the fold, can function in a manner somewhat similar to greeting cards. Postcards appeared fairly early on in the history of the postal service as a cheaper way of sending messages, especially those of a tourist nature.

Greeting cards come in a range of sizes, from the classic 5x7 to the longer (or taller, depending on the layout) 4x8 and the large, expansive 6x8. Some of Shutterfly's cards, including our thank you cards, also come in the cute, small, 3x5 format. These 3x5 cards can convey a sense of intimacy and charm perfect for certain occasions or recipients. Even though our tri-fold cards and gate fold cards fold out to more expansive sizes, when folded for mailing, they're 5x7 in format.
