To nominate a change-making woman, submit their name with a short motivation detailing the kind of help or support they give their community, which makes them a deserving winner. Categories include: Youth Philanthropist; Community Heroine; Woman of Honour; Community Builder; Young Dignitary; Outstanding Creative; Unsung Legend; The Guardian Award and; Innovative Educators Award. Once all nominations are in, shortlisted potentials will be required to compile a two-minute video, describing the nature of their service to communities.
1.Outstanding Youth Philanthropist Award
A young woman: (16 – 35) who have set herself apart from others through exceptional use of her skills and talents to help others, through activities that help empower her community.
This woman has taken it upon herself to promote welfare of others – altruistic behaviour.
This young woman demonstrates outstanding commitment to the community through direct financial support, the development of and or support to charitable programmes, volunteering in community empowerment work and or providing leadership in various community interventions.
2. Young Dignitary Award (Junior /Primary School)
A basic education (primary school up to 14 years) pupil – still attending school.

Positively influencing her peers and those older – how: activities?
A motivation from the current school will be of an advantage
She is a determined, positive and dedicated youth who never tires in helping others in different ways.
3. Young Dignitary Award (Secondary/ High School) (New Award)
A Learner at a High School Level 15 years up to 19 years – still attending school.

Positively influencing her peers and those older – how: activities?
A motivation from the current school will be of an advantage
She is a determined, positive and dedicated youth who never tires in helping others in different ways.
4. Innovative Educators Award (New Award)
Looking for a Science, Technology, Engineering and, Mathematics (STEM) Educators, Lecturers, Tutors, Practitioners, or Innovators with an undeniable passion for the field and an exceptional ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely, enabling others to grasp them. A highly innovative individual who fosters a growth mindset in their teachings and leads by example amongst their peers.
They put in extra hours, and/or holds weekend/ holiday classes to assist struggling learners, students, trainees. They lead their institutions participation in STEM symposiums and enter their projects to compete against others at different levels.
They have achieved a great result over years ; they also mentor their junior in the field or industry, fostering a learning and growth mindset in them.
5. Unsung Legend Award
Deserving of this award is a woman who has been serving her community for twenty or more years, without any recognition and or remuneration, and a legend in her own right within her community. This is a woman who have never sought fame or reward for what she does but have served her community tirelessly and with passion. First time recognition
6. Community Builder of the Year
(New Criteria)
This award acknowledges an educator who make a significant contribution in the academic life and the growth of learners. They establish forums, groups, creative programmes that hone students into self-mastery.
Through debates, sports, creative arts and general discipline, they collaborate well with their learners and have strong partnerships between their Colleagues and the communities.
This educator (High School/ Primary Level) has assisted learners through bursary and scholarships, representing their school both at local and regional levels. They encourage students to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and persevere in the face of difficulty is key to building their confidence and ability to learn.
They have 20 years and more experience in their profession and proven track record in contributing towards the academic and general achievements of their learners. They have accolades of recognition by the local and or provincial government for their role in improving the lives of leaners. Over and above the accolades they must have developed themselves academically reaching at least a Master’s Degree level
A woman who is recognised by her community as providing exceptional services, such as going an extra mile and making sacrifices in serving her community, particularly in the safety, security and law enforcement disciplines. This would include fire fighters, police, military, correctional services, lifeguards and emergency response. An endorsement from their superior would be an added advantage
8. Community Heroine Award
This is a woman who is regarded as pillar of her community. She uplifts her community through self-initiated projects to assist the vulnerable.
She doesn’t make excuses but believe in doing the best one can do to empower those who need a helping hand. She exhibits courage, she is fearless in the face of social challenges as she doesn’t believe in standing idle and wait for things to change without action.
This is a woman who inspires excellence and pave the way for others to achieve greatness ((how: create employment opportunities through co-operatives or other income-generating projects) She is a role model in her community and is recognised for her hard work, knowledge transfer and mentorship.
This is a woman who inspires a culture of entrepreneurship in her community.
9. Woman of Honour Award
The woman of honour is an outstanding woman achiever in traditionally male-dominated industries, has broken the glass ceiling and cleared the path for other women. This may include industries such as mining, science and technology, aviation, engineering, and chartered accountants.
An influential woman who positively uses her creative work to showcase the best of and uplift the value of women in society, e.g., Motivational Speaker, Poetry, Fine Artist, Writer, Sports, Innovation, Fashion etc.

Under no conditions will winners be announced prior to the day of the event.
GPL is not responsible for any travelling expenses borne by nominees and guests of the events.
Members of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature and GPL Staff Members may not enter to receive awards.
Winners in the past 2 cycles will not be considered in order to afford other nominees an opportunity to be recognised.
Winning is not based on votes but on the quality of submissions/ motivation per category
