The Department of Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens will host the 11th Summer School in Operator Theory from 6 to 10 July 2026. This event continues the long-standing Summer School series in Operator Theory, following previous editions held in 2011 (Chios), 2012 (Samos), 2013 (Samos), 2015 (Athens), 2016 (Athens), 2017 (Athens), 2018 (Athens), 2019 (Athens), 2023 (Athens), and 2025 (Samos).
The School is for undergraduate and graduate students, PhD students and junior researchers. Its aim is to present the research area of Operator Algebras and Operator Theory, as well as its interaction with other fields in modern mathematics
The goal of the Summer School is to provide an introduction to the subject of C*-algebras, von Neumann algebras and Operator Systems, with a focus on:
Finite dimensional approximations for C*-algebras.
The classification programme of C*-algebras.
Extension and dilation theorems for completely positive maps on operator systems.
Non-local games and the mathematics of quantum information theory.
The talks will take place at the Department of Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
