A PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AT 1143 EYREMOUNT DRIVE + 1141 CRESTLINE ROAD
The proposal envisions a carefully integrated residential development that respects the historical significance of Forrest Baker House while introducing a contemporary architectural language suited to its natural setting.
Rather than treating the heritage building as an isolated element, the design positions it as the principal historical reference for the site. New residential volumes are arranged around the existing building and follow the natural slope, creating a layered composition that seeks to maintain the heritage house's visual importance.
The architectural strategy is based on three primary objectives:
Heritage conservation: Retain the historic building as the defining element of the site and ensure that new construction remains visually subordinate to it.
Sensitive residential intensification: Introduce ten residential units in a configuration that responds to the terrain, provides privacy, and supports functional living environments.
Environmental integration: Incorporate green roofs, planted terraces, landscape buffers, and sustainable building strategies to strengthen the relationship between architecture and nature.
Underground parking is proposed to minimize surface parking and preserve space for landscaping. The new buildings adopt simple geometric forms, generous glazing, and restrained material expression to establish a contemporary identity without competing with the heritage architecture.
The proposal ultimately aims to create a residential environment in which historic character, modern living, and ecological sensitivity coexist within a unified site design.
