Brief Introduction to Prof. Yabuta
Prof. Yabuta is a renowned astrochemist at Hiroshima University. Her research fields are Astrochemistry and Organic Geochemistry. She specializes in analyzing organic compounds found in meteorites, cosmic dust, and asteroid returns using advanced techniques including scanning transmission X-ray microscopy. She is widely recognized for her leadership in analyzing samples from the asteroid, Ryugu, returned by a JAXA's Hatabusa 2 mission. She led an international team of over 40 scientists who analyzed the solid organic matter in the Ryugu samples. Their findings have provided critical insights into how organic molecules evolved in the early solar system and their potential links to the origin of life on Earth.
