History of Institute

From that original location in Moscow, Institute has expanded to more than 2,700 locations in over 170 countries around the world.

As we celebrate this centennial year, 2026 marks another incredible milestone. In March 2026, the combined worldwide enrollment for Seminary and Institute officially surpassed 1 million students for the first time in history. This record includes youth in Seminary and young adults in Institute, reflecting the continued growth of gospel learning and gathering across the globe.

Of that historic number, Institute alone now serves approximately 457,000 young adults ages 18–30 worldwide, a powerful reminder of the impact this program continues to have one hundred years after it began. This milestone perfectly aligns with this year’s theme: Be One in a Million. 

As President Oaks has invited, Institute remains one of the greatest places to learn, gather, and lift others in a world filled with noise and confusion.

Gathering in Moscow, Idaho, on September 26, 2026, allows us to celebrate not only the place where Institute began, but also the lives it continues to bless across the world today.
