The Internet Archive has just added more than 1000 new arcade games to the Internet Arcade. Revealed in 2014 for the first time as a way to preserve classic computer and arcade games, and provide users with options to play these games using emulation, it is now one of the largest arcade sites on the Internet.

Arcade games differ from emulated console and PC games that the Internet Archive hosts as well even though some arcade games have been ported to consoles and even the computer. The core difference is that players had to pay to play these games. While that is not necessary anymore when you play them on the Internet Archive site, you will notice that many are designed as money sinks.

The selection of arcade games is large enough to provide entertainment to any gamer regardless of personal preferences. You find shoot 'em up, sports, puzzle, action, or jump and run games in abundance on the site and the ever growing list of supported games.

The Internet Arcade, our collection of working arcade machines that run in the browser, has gotten a new upgrade in its 4th year. Advancements by both the MAME emulator team and the Emscripten conversion process allowed our team to go through many more potential arcade machines and add them to the site.

The majority of these newly-available games date to the 1990s and early 2000s, as arcade machines both became significantly more complicated and graphically rich, while also suffering from the ever-present and home-based video game consoles that would come to dominate gaming to the present day. Even fervent gamers might have missed some of these arcade machines when they were in the physical world, due to lower distribution numbers and shorter times on the floor.

Mollie: The Sims 4 continues to reign supreme in the life sim genre, but with nine years and $1000s of expansions, it's starting to come apart at the seams. Building is still a 10/10 experience, but the actual gameplay can be a bit unruly. There's still oodles of fun to be had with the free base game and fan-made custom content, though.

One of the best arcades in NYC for families is Laser Bounce, without a doubt. Their Arcade here comes with all the classic perks kids love, like typical arcade games, a fully state-of-the-art laser tag arena, and even a Hologate VR experience. This is only half of it too, thanks to their Bounce Park that features a trampoline park and half inflatable fun house!

With over 1,000 floating platforms and three whole exclamation marks, 1000 Stages: Adventure!!! is a 2D walking simulator that looks more like an Atari 2600 game than one of Steam's most expensive titles. It will set players back $149.99, although the developer has expressed a willingness to provide free keys for those whose monthly income is below $800.

To be fair, the game doesn't actually look too bad and even supports five-player multiplayer through a LAN connection, although it's unlikely to see much action outside of VR arcades due to its high cost. Unfortunately, those hoping to exhibit the game commercially will need to purchase a separate license, but as the developer's web page and socials are no longer active, that no longer seems to be possible.

It also let the player pick different teams of soldiers, each consisting of different classes. With an adapter, four players can play on the same team against the computer.
