Abstract
A Fictional VR series displaying four interrelated characters trying to grasp control of their life events, in Israel, upon a captured soldier’s return to his awaiting homeland; Viewers experience each episode through the perspective of one character, revealing parts of the bigger story, building the narrative as they watch.
Synopsis
Spotlight Effect for VR consists four episodes, each named after one of the main characters. From an interactive menu- viewers turn on the spotlight to the episode-and thus the character of their choice. Viewers then engage each episode through one character's point of view. Each episode is up to seven minutes long and designed in a different genre, aligned with the way the character in action (and thus the viewer) experiences life. With each episode viewers reveal one story line and parts of the greater narrative taking place within the same time frame.
Outline
The plot takes place against the background of Israel at a crucial historical turning point. After 4 years in captive, Ofek returns to his awaiting homeland. Galia and Amir will never forget the dramatic nights before his return as they were fighting the final round over their crumbling relationship. For Mary it's a bit more personal, it’s the moment she decides to cross the border between reality and illusion. Who is the centre of the story? You are.
Galia / Melodrama
The Yoga teacher believes that time is the remedy to overcome Amir’s betrayal. When she bumps into Jeff, her mythological ex at the neighbourhood bar, she will decide how far she is willing to go in order to save their crumbling relationship.
Amir / Tragedy
Between his bartending job and his ill mother he can't let go of the idea that only if Galia sleeps with someone else, they can get even and bridge over this gap. He manipulates her to meet Jeff, but doesn’t take into consideration the consequences of having your loved one sleep with another.
Mary / Comedy
The successful actress deeply sinks into the pregnant character she plays on stage and decides to hold on to the fake belly in real life too. An unplanned encounter with Ofek will push her to the edge with this lie.
Ofek / Historical Fiction
After 4 year in captive, the soldier finally returns home. Family members, friends and people from all over the country gathered to celebrate the hero's return, but Ofek just wants his old life back.
