Please join Minorities and Philosophy VT for a discussion with philosopher Philip Yaure!
Dr. Yaure will share insights from his research on the history of African American political thought, the connection between racism and ignorance, and the potentials and pitfalls of combating ignorance through humility.
Discussion will be followed by an open Q&A. Light refreshments will be provided.
We encourage attendees to read Dr. Yaure's short blog post "How to Be Humble in Antiracist Politics" ahead of the event.
The blog post summarizes his article "Two Varieties of White Ignorance," published in The Journal of Politics in July 2024.
Philip Yaure is an assistant professor of philosophy at Virginia Tech. His research focuses on themes related to citizenship, political judgment, and the nature of political community in the history of African American political thought. For more information, visit his website.
