Testing for College
& Beyond
The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is offered every October and is typically taken by sophomores and juniors. Juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) and meet program requirements may qualify for recognition and scholarships. More information can be found at www.nationalmerit.org.
This exam costs $18. This can be paid via MySchoolBuck, under Testing.
PSAT on campus testing closed for the 23-24 school year
The SAT and ACT are typically taken by juniors for the first time in the Spring and seniors, again if needed, in the Fall. We encourage our students to take either test at least twice.

The TSI (Texas Success Initiative) helps determine college readiness by testing the following areas: reading, writing, and arithmetic. Vidor High School is now a TSI testing center. Please contact Ms. Boone to set up a testing appointment. Click here for additional information.
