About Me
My name is Maribel Gonzalez. I was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I graduated Valedictorian in my high school class and attended the Pennsylvania State University where I graduated Cum Laude in Civil Engineering with minors in Economics and Environmental Engineering. I also have a masters in Structural Engineering with a Computer Science option from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I worked as a structural engineering in Virginia and Pennsylvania. After several years in the industry I decided to change careers and pursue education to teach one of my favorites subjects: math. I have a post-baccalaureate degree and certification for middle-level mathematics from Wilson College. Through my industry experience in a career with a heavy emphasis in mathematics, I have gained a real world perspective of its relative importance. Together with my passion and enthusiasm towards math education, I hope my students get to love to learn and succeed in math!

Mi nombre es Maribel Gonzalez. Nací y crecí en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. Me gradué Valedictorian en mi clase de escuela secundaria y asistí a la Universidad Estatal de Pensilvania donde me gradué Cum Laude en Ingeniería Civil con mención en Economía y Ingeniería Ambiental. También tengo una Maestría en Ingeniería Estructural con una opción en Ciencias de la Computación de la Universidad de Illinois en Urbana-Champaign. Trabajé como ingeniero estructural en Virginia y Pennsylvania. Después de varios años en la industria decidí cambiar de carrera para enseñar uno de mis temas favoritos: matemáticas. Tengo certificación para matemáticas de nivel medio de Wilson College. A través de mi experiencia en la industria en una carrera con un fuerte énfasis en matemáticas, he adquirido una experiencia en cómo las matemáticas se aplica al mundo real.
