About Coach Slimmer

Hi my name is Danielle Slimmer and I am the coach for the Valley Falls Dragons Dance Team! I was on my high school dance team my sophomore, junior, and senior year. I did not tryout my freshman year because I thought I could not have the confidence to dance in front of a big crowd. I would always be dancing at the school dances and having so much fun. I soon realized the love I have for dance overcame any fear I had of dancing in front of a crowd.

In all four years of high school I was on the volleyball team, basketball team, and ran track. I was a multi-sport athlete and sure there were days I was overly exhausted but I wouldn't trade it for the joy I felt at the end of the day. My schedule was all over the place back then so I will completely understand if you are involved in other things too!

I worked extremely hard to achieve the All American Nominee Award twice at an National Dance Alliance (NDA) camp my sophomore and senior year. At all three NDA camps I earned a superior award. Also, I received a top gun award for best hip hop on the team from the NDA instructors. I got the chance to ear the technique ribbon junior and senior year at the NDA camps as well. I took part in creating dance routine for my junior team/squad and my senior team dance.

I always had a passion for dance but never knew of it until I was on my high school dance team. Since then I have not been able to stop dancing. This dancing may occur in my PreK classroom, workouts, or when I am at home putting on a show for my dog! Dancing has a way of expressing different emotions without having to say a single word. This is what dance has done for me and I would love to share it
