Dr Dave Miller

Dr. Dave Miller is a specialist physician and together with Dr. Adri Scholtz runs the medical practice and offer services in all fields of internal medicine. These fields include dermatology, cardiology, oncology [cancer therapy], urology and nephrology, musculo-skeletal disease including arthritis and endocrine disorders. Endoscopy, diagnostic radiology, ultrasonography of the heart, chest, abdomen and glands and chemotherapy also form part of these services.
Dr Izak Venter
Dr. Izak Venter graduated BVSc in 1990 and MMedVet Ophth in 1994. Started JHB Animal Eye Hospital as co-partner in 1996. Started Cape Animal Eye Hospital as co-partner in 2012. He had a serious injury to his hand and lost function of his right thumb leaving him unable to do microsurgery. This has led to him starting an online ophthalmology educational and consulting website for veterinarians. The company is called DVOS. www.dvos.co.za. Still continuing as a part-time senior lecturer at Onderstepoort Veterinary Faculty
Dr. Paul van der Merwe
Dr. Paul van der Merwe is a veterinarian and a wildlife specialist. He joined the South African Defence Force in 1986 and progressed through the ranks to be promoted to Colonel in 2004. Before retiring in March 2022, he served as the Director of Animal Health for the South African National Defence Force. He was a member of the Transformation Steering Committee of the South African Military Health Service (SAMHS) and managed primary health care in the SAMHS for four years. He chaired the ICMM’s Veterinary Technical Commission for ten years. He currently serves as the President of the South African Veterinary Association(SAVA) and chairs the SAVA’s Disaster Management/One Health and Congress Organizing Committees. He is the Director of One Health Consulting (OHCON) and consults for various international and national organizations.
Dr Johan van Rooyen
1976 Bachelor in Veterinary Science. University of Pretoria. 1999 M in Business Administration. Potchefstroom Business School 2009 Masters in Sustainable Agriculture. University of the Freestate. 2012 Masters in Veterinary Medicine: Small-stock Herd Health. University of Pretoria. 2013 Postgraduate Diploma in Tertiary Education at Unisa. 2013 Trained in facilitation and conflict management based on depth psychology Sescialist Veterinarian Herd Health (Sheep &, Goats) 2007 - 2018 Lecturer and Researcher Grootfontein Agricultural Development Institute 1979 - current: Mixed rural practice focusing on Herd Health.
Dr Danie Odendaal
Dr Danie Odendaal is the Managing Director of VNet (Veterinary Network) South Africa. He developed V-Data (mobile disease reporting) and is involved with Afrivet Training Services, and publications like Veeplaas and Stockfarm. Previous he has served on the South African Veterinary Council, served as Chairman and Managing Director of the Livestock Health and Production Group (now RuVASA) and is the founder of the Livestock Health and Production Review Magazine.
My personal passion: To make use of the expansive body of veterinary knowledge available on the subjects of beef cattle health and production management, and transform this into structured herd health and production management plans for the implementation of a disease prevention and production optimization service provided by veterinarians.
Dr Deon van Tonder
Deon qualified at Onderstepoort Veterinary Faculty, South Africa in 1986 then spent two years in the military as an equine veterinarian before returning to the University of Pretoria to do an MBA.
After completion of his MBA, he returned to a mixed private practice, focusing more on equine work. In 1992 he moved to the Wellington Animal Hospital, in the Winelands of South Africa near Cape Town, where he still is today. This is an 11 vet practice with 3 branches, focusing mainly on small animals and equine, but do all species, including game work. Deon does exclusively equine work of which the bulk is made up of reproduction and sport horses.
