Latin Classes at VHHS
We are proud to offer a four year Latin program at VHHS. This provides students the opportunity to study Latin throughout their high school careers.
Latin I: Students learn the basics of the Latin language while studying various aspects of Roman life and culture.
Latin II: Students continue their study of the Latin language, learning more complex details of the language in order to truly study the lives of Romans in their own language.
Honors Latin III: Students begin to study authentic Roman texts, including those of Livy, Catullus, Ovid, and Caesar. Students are also introduced to the wonderful world of Roman epic poetry!
AP Latin IV: Students translate selections from Pliny's Letters and Vergil's Aeneid. Students are then asked to provide commentary about various aspects of Roman culture based on their readings.

About Me
Salvete! I began studying Latin as a freshman in high school not really knowing what I was getting into. I absolutely fell in love with the study of Latin and classical culture, and never looked back! I have been teaching at Vestavia for 15 years and have loved every second of it! When I am not at school, I enjoy spending my time with my two wonderful children, Christopher and Charlotte. I am so thankful to be able to be a part of the wonderful World Languages department at Vestavia, and I am grateful that I have the opportunity to provide a fun and unique learning experience for all of my students!
Clubs/Organizations
In addition to teaching all four levels of Latin at the VHHS Main Campus and Freshman Campus, I sponsor the Vestavia chapter of the Junior Classical League (Latin Club), and the Latin Honor Society. I am also one of the Seal of Biliteracy coordinators for VHCS.
