MISSION STATEMENT

To present a sequential program based on the developmental needs of the middle school student. We strive to prepare every student socially, academically, and emotionally for present and future challenges. Students are provided with opportunities to gain an understanding of self and others, to achieve academic success, and to participate in career exploration in an environment that is safe, caring and encouraging.

PHILOSOPHY

We believe that student support is provided by a team which is all-inclusive, and that all stakeholders have an integral part in ensuring a student’s success. As counselors we support the connectedness of everyone: school system administrators, principals, counselors, faculty, support staff, community members, parents and the students themselves - all working together to provide students with the opportunity to develop their fullest potential. To produce leaders in learning for tomorrow’s world is the vision of Pizitz Middle School, and the primary goal of the Pizitz Middle School Counseling Program is to promote and enhance our students’ learning.

What is a School Counselor?

School counselors are certified/licensed educators with the minimum of a master’s degree in school counseling and are uniquely qualified to address the developmental needs of all students through a comprehensive school counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social development of all students.
