Alumni Connect

The Department of Biotechnology, Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Chembur, organized an inspiring Alumni Connect session with Dr. Varun Suresh, an alumnus of the B.Sc. Biotechnology programme (Batch of 2013). The session was conducted under the aegis of PM-USHA in collaboration with the VESASC Alumni Association, with enthusiastic participation from undergraduate biotechnology and microbiology students.

Dr. Varun Suresh is currently a Research Scholar at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he is pursuing postdoctoral research in the field of Neurosurgery. He completed his Ph.D. from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in 2023. His academic journey—from a biotechnology undergraduate at VESASC to an international research scholar—served as a strong source of inspiration for the students attending the session.

On December 9, 2025, the Alumni Committee, in collaboration with the VESASC Alumni Association and the Department of Microbiology,  under the aegis of the PM-USHA program, organized an enlightening talk titled "From Inspirations to Achievements: entrance exams, motivation and journey of research." The session featured Ms. Monika Jaiswal a research scholar at ACTREC & an alumnus of the B.Sc. Microbiology Batch of 2013. The event was planned to provide students the opportunity to interact with an active researcher. She shared her academic and professional journey, providing valuable guidance and motivation to the students. She explained how her interest in the subject began during her school days, which inspired her to pursue it further at higher levels of education.

The workshop series commenced with the Solo and Duet

Singing Workshop on 8th December 2025, facilitated by Ms.

Jarvis Vargis, a renowned singer and performer. During the

session, she emphasized the importance of consistent daily

practice and explained how proper understanding of song lyrics

enhances vocal expression and emotional delivery. She

encouraged students to connect emotionally with the song and

highlighted that enjoying the performance plays a crucial role in

engaging the audience. The session was highly interactive,

allowing students to gain both technical and expressive insights

into singing.

On 9th December 2025, the Fashion Show Workshop was

conducted by Ms. Aishwarya Patole, who guided students

through the fundamentals of fashion presentation. She

explained the importance of selecting an appropriate theme,

aligning it with music, costumes, and choreography. The

facilitator stressed that a fashion show is not merely about

walking on the ramp, but about storytelling, confidence, posture,

expressions, and coordination with music. Her guidance helped

students understand how creative presentation can give them a

competitive edge in fashion events.

The Group Dance Workshop, held on 10th December 2025,

was facilitated by Mrs. Sushma Verma, who provided in-

depth insights into the dynamics of group performances. She

discussed various aspects such as selection of dance styles,

synchronization, spacing, formations, and transitions. The session

highlighted that coordination, unity, and teamwork are the

backbone of a successful group dance. Students actively

participated and learned how collective harmony enhances the

visual appeal of a performance.

On 11th December 2025, the Mono Acting and Skit

Workshop was conducted by Mr. Pramod Ghosh, which

proved to be one of the most impactful sessions of the

workshop. This session was especially beneficial for students

aspiring to pursue careers in acting and media. He trained students

on building self-confidence, facing the camera, and

understanding camera angles. He explained how the cue “rolling”

helps an actor get into character, while “action” marks the

beginning of performance. Additionally, he taught students how

to express emotions effectively, even when not directly facing the

camera. His insights into the acting profession and the media

industry significantly transformed students’ perspectives and

inspired many to consider acting as a career path.

The workshop concluded on 12th December 2025 with the

Solo and Dance Workshop, facilitated by Mr. Sachin Gharat.

He focused on teaching students how to embrace the stage,

maintain energy, and connect with the audience. He emphasized

the importance of trust and coordination in duet performances,

while highlighting that self-confidence and self-belief are

essential for impactful solo performances. He also guided

students on executing clear and well-defined steps and explained

the importance of utilizing the entire stage, as limiting movement

to one area can reduce the overall effectiveness of a performance.

A technical session on React.js was conducted on 29 November 2025 at VES College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, delivered by alumni speaker Mr. Rajan Das as part of an Alumni Connect initiative. The session aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals and practical applications of React.js, emphasizing its importance in modern web development. Mr. Das began by explaining that React is a JavaScript library-maintained by Meta-designed to build interactive, scalable front-end interfaces. He clarified the difference between a library and a framework, noting that a library like React offers flexibility and allows developers to control how tools are used, whereas frameworks enforce structure and strict rules. React is preferred for projects requiring customization and fine control over UI behaviour.

The Sports Department of Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous) successfully organized a Zumba Fitness Training Session as part of its fitness and wellness initiatives during the academic year 2025–26. The session was conducted from 22nd November 2025 to 13th December 2025, between 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., in the college premises. The programme was led by Mr. Kunal Gaikwad, a certified Zumba instructor and fitness trainer.

The primary aim of the session was to encourage students to engage in regular physical activity while enjoying an energetic and stress-free workout environment. Zumba, being a blend of dance and fitness, helped participants improve cardiovascular endurance, coordination, flexibility, and muscle strength through rhythmic movements and upbeat music.

The session was conducted as an experience-based and interactive discussion on game development using Unity, led by industry professional Chirag, who shared detailed insights from his personal career journey. Instead of focusing on step-by-step coding demonstrations, the session centered on mindset, industry realities, and practical problem-solving techniques. The speaker discussed his progression from learning basic web technologies to working with multiple game engines, highlighting the importance of research, experimentation, and confidence when transitioning between tools. Core Unity concepts were introduced, including the editor interface, game objects, components, and lifecycle methods. 

The Alumni Committee of Vivekanand Education Societ's College of Arts, Science, and Commerce (Autonomous) organized a Guest Lecture under Alumni Connect on "Advance Training on Kabaddi" as part of the PM-USHA Grant activities. The session was conducted by alumnus, Mr. Jayesh Mhatre, currently serving as a Coach at Youngsters Sports Club. The training was held on 13th and 15th September 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at the 701B Law Building and Stilt Area of VESASC Campus.

The Alumni Committee of the institution organized an engaging and informative Hands-On Session on Cloud Computing using AWS on 12th September 2025 under the aegis of the PM USHA Grant. The session was conducted by Mr. Om Thakur, an accomplished alumnus of the 2024 batch of the Computer Science Department. The event was aimed at introducing freshers and junior students to the world of cloud computing and providing them with a practical understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the leading cloud platforms used in industry.

The Alumni Connect session on “Angular and JWT Token Authentication

and Authorization” was conducted on 13th September 2025, from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM, in Room No. 407. The resource person was Mr. Haresh

Pawar, Lead Software Engineer at Reserve Bank of India IT Pvt. Ltd., Navi

Mumbai, and a proud alumnus of B.Sc. IT (Batch 2014) from VESASC.

With more than a decade of rich industry experience, Mr. Pawar shared his

expertise on technical domains, industry insights, and career guidance. The

session began with a warm welcome and a formal introduction of the speaker by Mrs. Shital Patil, Head of the IT Department.

The BMS Department of Vivekanand Education Society's

College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), in

collaboration with the VESASC Alumni Association and under

the aegis of PM-USHA, organized an Alumni Connect session

on "Social Media Marketing: Bchind the Screens" on 23rd

August 2025. The event took place in Room No. 216 from 11:00

am to 1:00 pm and featured Ms. Jaspreet Wadhwa, Assistant

Social Media Manager at Bigtrunk Communicationsand an

alumna of the 2019 BMS batch, as the distinguished guest

speaker. A total of 54 students enthusiasticallyparticipated in the

session.

The Department of Microbiology, in association with the VESASC Alumni Association, organized an Alumni Connect activity under the aegis of PM-USHA on “How to Get Selected in a Job Interview – Do’s and Don’ts” on 11th August 2025 in the AV room from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The resource person was Mr. Sunil Budke, alumnus of the Department of Microbiology (Batch of 2001) and Founder & Director of Evolon Biotech.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Suman Ganger, faculty member of the Microbiology Department, who introduced Mr. Budke by outlining his distinguished career trajectory. His professional journey spans roles from research scientist to industrial designer, ultimately leading to his entrepreneurial success at Evolon Biotech.

The guest lecture on “Corporate Communications: From Strategy to Success” was organized to provide students/professionals with a deep insight into the strategic importance of corporate communications in achieving organizational objectives. The session aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application in the field of communication.

The guest lecture successfully met its objectives, offering valuable knowledge on the strategic role of corporate communications. It equipped participants with actionable tools and ideas to implement effective communication strategies in their professional journeys.

On 2nd August 2025, an expert talk titled “Campus to Corporate: Skills, Stories, and Success Strategies” was successfully held under the PM-USHA initiative. The session featured CMA Ms. Kirti Deshmukh, Chief Operating Officer at BiXCO (Leadge Business Services Pvt. Ltd.), as the guest speaker. The event began with a formal welcome and introduction of the speaker to the audience.

The session focused on the transition from campus to corporate, emphasizing the mindset and skill shift required. “Early habits shape future success,” noted Ms. Deshmukh, as she stressed the importance of communication, teamwork, time management, and adaptability. She highlighted the gap between academic learning and corporate expectations, particularly in areas like ERP systems and professional conduct.

The Alumni Committee of Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous), under the aegis of PM-USHA and in collaboration with the VESASC Alumni Association, organized an insightful Alumni Connect session on “Opportunities in Insurance Sector” on 2nd August 2025 in Room No. 301.

The guest speaker for the event was Mr. Akshay Bhosale, a distinguished alumnus from the 2024 Banking and Insurance batch, currently working as an Insurance Advisor at Bhosale Investments & Insurance. With his practical experience and industry exposure, Mr. Bhosale provided students with valuable knowledge about the insurance field and its significance in today’s economy.

The objective of the session was to help students explore the dynamic nature of the insurance industry, understand its critical role in financial security, risk management, and economic growth, and identify career paths aligned with their skills and interests.

The Alumni Committee of Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous), under the aegis of PM-USHA and in collaboration with the VESASC Alumni Association, organized an enriching Alumni Connect session titled “Mastering the Corporate Compass: Your Guide to Professional Life” on 2nd August 2025 in Room No. 201 .

The resource person for the session was Mr. Shreyas Pawar, an esteemed alumnus from the 2019 Banking and Insurance batch. Currently serving as Manager – Financial Planning and Analysis (Corporate Banking) at Kotak Mahindra Bank, Mr. Pawar brought forth valuable corporate insights and shared his transition from college to a successful banking career

The invited speaker for the session was Mr. Karun Sodah, a distinguished alumnus of the Department of Chemistry and a professional with 23 years of experience in the teaching industry. His talk offered students a valuable perspective on how academic learning in chemistry can be translated into practical, industry-relevant skills and careers.

Mr.Karun Sodah began his session by reflecting on his journey from a student at VESASC to a professional in the industry. He emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of chemistry and its relevance in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, energy, and environmental science. His talk touched upon current industry expectations, skill demands, and the importance of aligning academic learning with real-world applications.

On July 17th , the Alumni Committee, in collaboration with the Alumni Association and the Department of B.Com Accounting and Finance,  under the aegis of the PM-USHA program, organized an enlightening talk titled “Building Professional Relationships: Strategies for Effective Networking,” The session featured Mr. Vikrant Tiwari an accomplished  tax professional and an alumna of the B.Com Accounting and Finance Batch of 2021. The event was designed to help students understand the value of professional connections and how to build them effectively.

Mr.Vikrant Tiwari commenced the session by introducing the concept of  Networking and its significance for career development.. He explained how Networking is not about collecting contacts, it's about planting relationships.The speaker brought practical insights and industry perspectives to the discussion.

The Department of Physics, under the aegis of PM-USHA and in collaboration with the VESASC Alumni Association, hosted an insightful Alumni Connect session with Ms. Shubhangi Tirpude, an accomplished medical physicist from the B.Sc. Physics Batch of 2010. With over 10 years of experience in leading hospitals and academic institutions, Ms. Tirpude currently serves as a Head of Medical Physicist Department at Mahatma Gandhi Mission Hospital and College (Navi Mumbai) Titled “Career Prospets in Medical Physics”, the session aimed to introduce students to the rapidly growing field of physics in medical science and to shed light on the exciting career possibilities it offers to pure science graduates.

The Department of Biotechnology, under the aegis of PM-USHA and in collaboration with the VESASC Alumni Association, hosted an insightful Alumni Connect session with Ms. Asavari Mathur, an accomplished medical writer from the B.Sc. Biotechnology Batch of 2016. With over 7 years of experience in scientific writing, Ms. Asavari currently serves as a Senior Associate – Scientific Writing at Indegene Pvt. Ltd. Titled “Beyond the Lab: Exploring a Career in Medical Writing”, the session aimed to introduce students to the rapidly growing field of medical writing and to shed light on the exciting career possibilities it offers to life science graduates.

The BMS Department of Vivekanand Education Society's College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous), under the PM-Usha initiative, conducted an insightful session titled "Industrial automation system in Indian SMEs" on lTth July, 2025. The session was led by Mr. Chirant Doshi Executive Sales Director, at CMP Euro Technoplast PVT. LTD. Held in Room no.276 from 1l AM to 12 PM, the session aimed to prepare students with insightful and practical knowledge offering a deep understanding of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs),.

The Alumni Committee, in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology and the Alumni Association, under the aegis of PM-USHA, organized an Alumni Connect session on June 28, 2025. The event featured Ms. Aditi Pawar, a distinguished alumna from the B.Sc. Biotechnology Batch of 2017. Currently serving as Assistant Manager – Sales & Marketing at K. Patel Phyto Extractions Pvt. Ltd., Ms. Aditi brought with her over five years of hands-on experience in international sales, marketing, and business development within the nutraceutical industry.

The Alumni committee, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Alumni Association under the aegis of PM-USHA, organized an Alumni Connect session on March 8, 2025. The event featured Mr. Irshad Sheikh, an esteemed B.Sc. Computer Science alumna (Batch of 2007) and Manager of Product Management at eClinicalWorks. The session aimed to inspire students to explore different career paths available across the IT industry & gain knowledge of essential skills needed to succeed in today’s job market. 

The Alumni committee, in collaboration with the Department of Psychology and Alumni Association under the aegis of PM-USHA, organized an Alumni Connect session on March 8, 2025. The event featured Ms. Ipsita Chatterjee, an esteemed B.A. Psychology alumna (Batch of 2014) and Founder at Thehraav -Unwind Your Mind. The session aimed to provide students with valuable insights into learning the importance of seeking jobs with proper training and supervision. The Guest Speaker also encouraged the participants to explore diverse psychology roles, including therapy, social work, and policy-making.

The Alumni committee, in collaboration with the Department of Psychology and Alumni Association under the aegis of PM-USHA, organized an Alumni Connect session on March 8, 2025. The event featured Ms. Raksha Rajesh, an esteemed B.A. Psychology alumna (Batch of 2017) and Lead Clinical Psychologist at Mitsu.Care. The session aimed to familiarize students with the awareness regarding career opportunities beyond clinical settings, such as corporate psychology. The participants were explained the importance of financial literacy and effective financial management.

The Alumni committee, in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology and Alumni Association under the aegis of PM-USHA, organized an Alumni Connect session on March 1, 2025. The event featured Ms. Neha Kuity, an esteemed B.Sc. Biotechnology alumna (Batch of 2020) and Executive - R&D in Biopharmaceutical Upstream & Bioprocessing at HiMedia Laboratories Pvt. Ltd.. The session aimed to provide students with valuable insights into biotechnological advancements, research opportunities, and industry applications, bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice.

On February 25, 2025, the Alumni Committee, in collaboration with the VESASC Alumni Association, VESASC Entrepreneurship & Innovation Cell and the Department of Microbiology,  under the aegis of the PM-USHA program, organized an enlightening talk titled "Entrepreneurship, YES I think different." The session featured Mr. Chandan Vador, a budding Entrepreneur & an alumnus of the M.Sc. Microbiology Batch of 2015. The event was planned to provide students the opportunity to interact with an entrepreneur. 

On February 15, 2025, the Alumni Committee, in collaboration with the Alumni Association and the Department of Biotechnology,  under the aegis of the PM-USHA program, organized an enlightening talk titled "Genetic Counseling: Bridging Science, Healthcare, and Personalized Medicine." The session featured Ms. Vishakha Mali, an accomplished Certified Genetic Consultant and an alumna of the B.Sc. Biotechnology Batch of 2017. The event was designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of genetic counseling, its applications, and the career opportunities it offers in the rapidly evolving fields of healthcare and personalized medicine.

On February 8, 2025, the undergraduate and postgraduate students of the college attended an Alumni Connect session on "Exploring IVF: Science, Technology, and Career Opportunities in Embryology". The guest lecture was organized by the Alumni committee in association with the department of Biotechnology and VESASC alumni association, to bridge  academic learning and industry.
