The Department of Biotechnology, Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Chembur, organized an inspiring Alumni Connect session with Dr. Varun Suresh, an alumnus of the B.Sc. Biotechnology programme (Batch of 2013). The session was conducted under the aegis of PM-USHA in collaboration with the VESASC Alumni Association, with enthusiastic participation from undergraduate biotechnology and microbiology students.
Dr. Varun Suresh is currently a Research Scholar at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he is pursuing postdoctoral research in the field of Neurosurgery. He completed his Ph.D. from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in 2023. His academic journey—from a biotechnology undergraduate at VESASC to an international research scholar—served as a strong source of inspiration for the students attending the session.

The session featured Ms. Monika Jaiswal a research scholar at ACTREC & an alumnus of the B.Sc. Microbiology Batch of 2013. The event was planned to provide students the opportunity to interact with an active researcher. She shared her academic and professional journey, providing valuable guidance and motivation to the students. She explained how her interest in the subject began during her school days, which inspired her to pursue it further at higher levels of education.

The workshop series commenced with the Solo and Duet
Singing Workshop on 8th December 2025, facilitated by Ms.
Jarvis Vargis, a renowned singer and performer. During the
session, she emphasized the importance of consistent daily
practice and explained how proper understanding of song lyrics
enhances vocal expression and emotional delivery. She
encouraged students to connect emotionally with the song and
highlighted that enjoying the performance plays a crucial role in
engaging the audience. The session was highly interactive,
allowing students to gain both technical and expressive insights
into singing.
On 9th December 2025, the Fashion Show Workshop was
conducted by Ms. Aishwarya Patole, who guided students
through the fundamentals of fashion presentation. She
explained the importance of selecting an appropriate theme,
aligning it with music, costumes, and choreography. The
facilitator stressed that a fashion show is not merely about
walking on the ramp, but about storytelling, confidence, posture,
expressions, and coordination with music. Her guidance helped
students understand how creative presentation can give them a
competitive edge in fashion events.
The Group Dance Workshop, held on 10th December 2025,
was facilitated by Mrs. Sushma Verma, who provided in-
depth insights into the dynamics of group performances. She
discussed various aspects such as selection of dance styles,
synchronization, spacing, formations, and transitions. The session
highlighted that coordination, unity, and teamwork are the
backbone of a successful group dance. Students actively
participated and learned how collective harmony enhances the
visual appeal of a performance.
On 11th December 2025, the Mono Acting and Skit
Workshop was conducted by Mr. Pramod Ghosh, which
proved to be one of the most impactful sessions of the
workshop. This session was especially beneficial for students
aspiring to pursue careers in acting and media. He trained students
on building self-confidence, facing the camera, and
understanding camera angles. He explained how the cue “rolling”
helps an actor get into character, while “action” marks the
beginning of performance. Additionally, he taught students how
to express emotions effectively, even when not directly facing the
camera. His insights into the acting profession and the media
industry significantly transformed students’ perspectives and
inspired many to consider acting as a career path.
The workshop concluded on 12th December 2025 with the
Solo and Dance Workshop, facilitated by Mr. Sachin Gharat.
He focused on teaching students how to embrace the stage,
maintain energy, and connect with the audience. He emphasized
the importance of trust and coordination in duet performances,
while highlighting that self-confidence and self-belief are
essential for impactful solo performances. He also guided
students on executing clear and well-defined steps and explained
the importance of utilizing the entire stage, as limiting movement
to one area can reduce the overall effectiveness of a performance.
A technical session on React.js was conducted on 29 November 2025 at VES College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, delivered by alumni speaker Mr. Rajan Das as part of an Alumni Connect initiative. The session aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals and practical applications of React.js, emphasizing its importance in modern web development. Mr. Das began by explaining that React is a JavaScript library-maintained by Meta-designed to build interactive, scalable front-end interfaces. He clarified the difference between a library and a framework, noting that a library like React offers flexibility and allows developers to control how tools are used, whereas frameworks enforce structure and strict rules. React is preferred for projects requiring customization and fine control over UI behaviour.

The Sports Department of Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous) successfully organized a Zumba Fitness Training Session as part of its fitness and wellness initiatives during the academic year 2025–26. The session was conducted from 22nd November 2025 to 13th December 2025, between 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., in the college premises. The programme was led by Mr. Kunal Gaikwad, a certified Zumba instructor and fitness trainer.
The primary aim of the session was to encourage students to engage in regular physical activity while enjoying an energetic and stress-free workout environment. Zumba, being a blend of dance and fitness, helped participants improve cardiovascular endurance, coordination, flexibility, and muscle strength through rhythmic movements and upbeat music.

Instead of focusing on step-by-step coding demonstrations, the session centered on mindset, industry realities, and practical problem-solving techniques. The speaker discussed his progression from learning basic web technologies to working with multiple game engines, highlighting the importance of research, experimentation, and confidence when transitioning between tools.
