About Mrs. Ma

Mrs. Claire Ma is originally from the mid-west with Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin roots. She completed her undergrad work at Iowa State University earning a Bachelors in K-12 Music Education. While at Iowa State she studied k-12 general, choral and instrumental music education and participated in many performance opportunities. After graduating, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she taught k-8 general and choral music in the Madison Metropolitan School District. She then went on to accept a job offer to teach 9-12 choral music with the Deforest Area School District. While working for DeForest, she led her choral department which included 3 curricular ensembles as well as teaching a general music class. She was involved in her school’s bi-annual musical, lead an extra-curricular show choir, as well as hosted and led students in annual solo and ensemble opportunities.

While in Madison,WI, Mrs. Ma also lead an adult church choir for 5 years and has sung as a soloist and chorister in the Madison and surrounding areas.

Mrs. Ma completed a Masters of Science in Education with an emphasis on choral conducting at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. While working on her masters degree, she was able to conduct 5 university choral ensembles of various levels as well as present as a feature conductor leading the orchestra and choir during the winter gala concert.

The 2016-2017 school year will mark Mrs. Ma's completion of her second year leading the Verona High School Choral Department.
