Students Will Be Able To

• Distinguish the difference between formal and informal situations

• Spell learned expressions, using the French alphabet

• Ask and say what someone’s favorite color is

• Familiarize themselves with many of the French-speaking countries in the world

• Talk about the weather and seasons

• Ask for and give the day, date, year and season

• Discuss important French-speaking holidays 

• Ask for and give time in various situations -use the 24 hour clock 

• Discuss different periods of the day and what happens

• Share the time of your plans, appointments and dates with others

• Ask and give personal information, such as names and ages about oneself and family members

• Imitate appropriate intonation for asking different types of questions in French

• Ask for and give one’s telephone number, age and birthday

• Determine whether a noun and adjective is masculine or feminine

• Use French articles correctly

• Talk about where one and others are from -city, ask for and give people’s nationalities

• Recognize descriptions of people and pastime preferences as found in culturally authentic oral and written texts.

• Ask and answer questions related to physical characteristics, likes and dislikes, personality traits, age, and pastime activities using digital tools and face to face communication

• Use correct sentence structure when making statements vs. asking questions.

• Describe self and others using oral or written text.

• Retell highlights from a culturally authentic children’s text (oral or written) that includes physical characteristics, personality qualities, pastime activities, and likes and dislikes.

• Express likes and dislikes, ask and respond to questions about physical characteristics to describe themselves.

• Skim and scan target language culturally authentic audio, video, or written text from electronic information sources and other sources to identify age, physical characteristics, personality qualities, pastime activities, and expressions of likes and dislikes.

• Use appropriate greetings and goodbyes from the target culture in a variety of scenarios.

• Understand basic classroom instructions and commands in the target language.
