The idea for the Board Butler was conceived during the summer on a Cape Cod beach in Massachusetts. A mom was frustrated with carrying her children's skim boards. She chatted with other moms on the beach and they all told the same story:
The kids love to skim board, but they have a hard time carrying their own boards. Since they use both hands, they cannot carry anything else at the same time. The wind makes it even more difficult. In the parking lot they get banged against cars. Many boards get dropped.
If Mom carries the board, she does not have a hand free to take her toddler’s hand.
As they chatted, the phrase, "There's got to be a better way" kept being repeated. This soon led to "Someone ought to invent some kind of a carrier. It wouldn't be too hard to do." One thing led to another and soon they were drawing sketches in the sand.
When this mom got home, she put the sketches down on paper. Various versions of the product were developed, tested, and refined. Eventually, the Board Butler was created.
