My name is Mrs. Atchley and I am so excited to be your teacher this year!

As a product of the Ventura Unified School District, (go Buena Bulldogs!!) I am honored to teach for the same school system that gave me such a strong educational foundation. I have always had a passion for working with kids and that started in 2008 when I began working as a tutor at Buena High School. Throughout my undergraduate education, I worked for a program called AVID, tutoring first in the family college prospects in multiple subjects from grades 6th through 12th. From there, I was a camp counselor at the Ojai Valley School Summer Program for seven summers. I have taught second grade, 4th and 5th grade mathematics, middle school math, high school geometry and algebra 2, did a stint as a resource teacher and worked as a co-ed P.E. teacher at Anacapa Middle School. After graduating with my undergraduate degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I went on to study the best practices for teaching mathematics in grades k-12 and earned my masters degree as well as my multiple subject teaching credential.

6th grade is both exciting and rigorous. We dive deep into math, science, language arts and social studies topics while incorporating STEM and hands-on projects. Everything we do is listed on our monthly online agendas. Please refer to those for any homework and classwork assignments as well as future due dates of assignments.
