Journalism, at Foothill Technology High School, is perennially a nationally recognized writing/multimedia publication program that consistently provides high quality content to its viewership. To this date, The Foothill Dragon Press has won numerous national awards from the National Scholastic Press Association and Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Our Journalism program is student organized through a leadership hierarchy and, more importantly, all of the content is created and controlled by our student journalists.
Yiu Hung Li, Journalism Adviser for the Dragon Press, is committed to adhering to an application process that is devoted to equal opportunity for all individuals in education. This is a multiphase vetting process that first involves looking a dynamic range of a student’s traits, and should the student move on to the second phase, an interview with students (the section editor and the Editor-in-chiefs) alongside Mr. Li. In this manner, student leaders of the program also have input towards the admittance of a new staffer/student.
Journalism at Foothill Technology is a highly competitive program that generally can only accept a portion of the applicants that wish to join. All final decisions for acceptance into the class will be made by Mr. Li
