The 3 Areas of School Counseling Support

1. Academic Support:

Supporting students in attendance, improving classroom success, developing academic strategies for home and school, and helping students feel overall connected to their school community.

Examples: helping students be organized, role playing on how to ask for help, reviewing class expectations, inviting student to be a part of "school connection" support group

2. College and Career Support:

Supporting student exploration in potential career paths through hands on, interactive, and meaningful experiences. From an early start there is discussion of college, career training, networking, and connecting school life to career life.

Examples: College & Career Week, sharing of career videos and websites throughout the school year, including my YouTube Channel where I interview various professionals.

3. Social and Emotional Support:

School Counselors assist students in identifying and supporting student's social and emotional needs- especially when these needs become a barrier in school success.

Examples: student support groups (parent permission is required), mediation between students who having conflict, collaborating with family and staff on supporting the student through a behavior plan
