Frequently Asked Questions

What medical devices does Med Device Network currently support?

Med Device Network focuses on helping manufacturers of complex medical devices currently in short supply. We currently provide support for manufacturers of the following:

  • Ventilators

  • Dialysis Machines

  • Pulse Oximeters

I have capabilities that are not listed below, how can I help?

Med Device Network is currently limited to the scope of features listed on the home page. If you do not see an option that meets your capabilities, please send an email to help@meddevicenetwork.org with more information about the types of capabilities you wish to offer. While we wish we could respond to every email we receive, we cannot guarantee a response to every message.

How do I set up my account?

Please visit: https://accounts.google.com/SignUpWithoutGmail and step through the process there to associate your corporate account with a Google account, which will allow you to use this service using your existing corporate account (note: this step should not be required for existing GSuite customers).

I’m having trouble logging in to Med Device Network and/or accessing spreadsheets. How can I fix this?

If you have a personal Gmail account (or multiple Gmail accounts) please sign out and try again. If this doesn’t work, Try opening an incognito window in a Chrome browser and login with the email you used when you signed up for Med Device Network. More information on how to open an incognito window can be found at https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95464

Is there a stand-alone PDF of the NDA that I can send to our legal team for review?

You may print or save a copy of the Med Device Network NDA here.

Does Med Device Network support email group access?

Med Device Network supports email group access if there is a communal login associated with the group that can be used to login to Med Device Network documents. If there is no communal login associated with the group (group is just an alias that forwards emails to members), then it cannot be used with Med Device Network.

For Medical Device Manufacturers

I am a medical device manufacturer who is looking to participate, are there any qualifications I need to meet?

To participate on Med Device Network as a ventilator manufacturer, your device must meet the following qualifications:

  • Approved for use in the intended jurisdiction (e.g. for US, 510(k) or PMA approval from the FDA, in the case of a ventilator manufacturer)

  • Your company must agree to and adhere to the Med Device Network NDA and Terms of Use

I am a medical device manufacturer who needs help getting my device approved by the FDA, can I use Med Device Network?

No, not today. But please email help@meddevicenetwork.org with your needs. If we identify someone with the ability to assist, we will try to get in touch with you.

How will suppliers see our parts needed requests? Is there a master list of parts needed that compiles all manufacturer submissions?

Med Device Network does not compile or publish a master list of parts needed across manufacturers. When suppliers apply to Med Device Network they are making a generic request to access all of the parts needed lists and that request goes to every manufacturer. Each manufacturer can then decide to grant the supplier access to their sheet. When access is granted, the supplier will receive an email with a link to the parts needed request for the specific manufacturer.

For Suppliers

What is the recommended method for me to share Parts Lists with other employees within my organization? (e.g. Should we create multiple login accounts?)

In the supplier request form, please include any additional email addresses that need access when you see the following question: “Please add email addresses (comma-separated) for other individuals at your company who will need access to manufacturer parts shortage lists”

I have logistical or operational capacity to help, how do I know if it can be used?

We are currently building support for logistics. In the meantime, please fill out the supplier form and mention logistical and operational capacity support in the “Additional Comments section.

I have submitted my request to help, what do I do now?

Once your submission has been reviewed and approved by a medical device manufacturer, you will receive an email from each manufacturer inviting you to view their parts needed list. This may take some time as each submission must be individually reviewed. Be sure to check your spam folder periodically in case the email gets incorrectly filtered.

If there are significant delays, feel free to reach out to help@meddevicenetwork.org for assistance.

What can I expect to see when a manufacturer invites me to view their parts needed list?

Med Device Network provides manufacturers with a parts list template that they are expected to follow (with some allowed modifications). An example of the template is shown below:

As a “Supplier” who can offer assistance? Will other “Suppliers” see the information I share?

No, your information will not be shared with other suppliers. When submitting a response to a manufacturer’s parts needed list, only that specific manufacturer will see your submission.

After submitting a response in the manufacturer's Parts List Template, what happens next? When will I know if my help is accepted?

Your response will be reviewed by the manufacturer and they will reach out to you directly at your provided email address to gather any additional information and proceed to next steps.

I received an email with access to a manufacturer’s parts list. When I click the email link, the parts list spreadsheet won’t load. How can I fix this?
