Digital Citizenship Curriculum for Secondary Education

During the two years of our project we designed the lessons for our Curriculum. The topic of the lesson-plans corresponds to the contents under study in each of the six school terms in which we divided our project.

There are several classifications of the "elements" of Digital Citizenship, but taking into account that we are building a curriculum for Secondary Education students, we have left some out (for example digital commerce), and we have put together, under the same category, some elements which in some classifications are separated, for example "Social networks. Relationships & Communication", because as you can see, they are closely related.

Thus, with this in mind, our classification is the following: THINK (What is Digital Literacy?), FIND (Content Literacy), CREATE (Creativity, Property and Copyright), SHARE (Social networks, Relationships and communication, BE AWARE (Identity and digital footprint) and WATCH OUT (Internet Risks).

During our first school year we will be dealing with the definition of Digital Literacy, Content Literacy (looking for information, selecting the most relevant one, distinguishing between fact and opinion, etc.). In the last term we will deal with legal issues to avoid plagiarism and promote their creativity.

The second school year is focused on the internet as a means of communication through the different social networks. We want to make our students aware of their own digital footprint as well as warn them about the internet risks they can come across.
