Communicating with parents/guardians is essential to the success of our students.
This provides staff the ability to post to ParentSquare for the larger community, send messages, and receive messages from parents. There are also add-on features that allow for field trip permission forms, parent conference RSVPs, and more.
There is a feature in Google Classroom that allows parents/guardians to view assignments. We encourage all teachers to involve parent/guardians in their Google Classroom as a support.
Within Aeries, there is the ability for a teacher to send emails to the parents/guardians of students. All emails are also on the Contacts table of a student's record.

Jive GoToConnect provides the staff member with a virtual phone that emulates their work extension. This allows them to call parents/guardians from a VCUSD number, rather than their private phone. It's also a handy way to check their work voicemail. To enable this service, submit a technology support ticket.

Teachers and instructional staff have the ability to invite students to a Google Meet for interactive communications via video conferencing or phone. There's also the ability for teachers or students to present from their screen in this format.

Teachers can email any student in their Google Classroom. Comments and responses can be enabled by the teacher after there has been discussion of norms on digital citizenship.
Using screencasting tools, we have the ability to model lessons for students, record demonstrations, or give simple how-to videos on the laptop. Taking it a step further, students can create a screencast to show evidence of learning.
