James Madison University
Zareen Rahman, Rani Satyam, and Erica Miller are organizing the first Mid-Atlantic Conference on Research in Undergraduate Mathematics Education. The conference will be held at James Madison University, located in Harrisonburg, VA. There is no registration fee. To register to attend or present at the MA-RUME conference this October, please fill out the registration form.
There is no cost to attend or present, but we would like to have a headcount so that we know how many people to expect. So please register if you plan to attend (this include both in-person attendance and virtual).
Below is a link to the official conference schedule. While you may print this schedule, we suggest referencing the online version in case there are any changes or updates made.
For directions to the venue, please see below:
The GPS address for Lakeview Hall is below. When you turn into JMU’s campus off Port Republic Rd., we are the first building immediately on the left. If you pass the lake, you’ve gone too far. Parking is available in front of the building and the lot continues around the side and back of Lakeview Hall. Overflow parking is located behind the Starbucks across the street (not the Starbucks lot).

There are two types of talks we are accepting proposals for.
Research Reports. This type of talk is for presentations of either finalized or preliminary research results.
Ideas for Research Studies. This type of talk is for presenters who are in the design phase of a research study. During the talk, they can present their research problem/question and their current plan for addressing it in order to solicit feedback on how to improve the study design.
More details regarding the length and format of talks will be shared with presenters after submissions are reviewed in September.
Proposals for this conference are due August 30, 2019 by 11:59 pm (EST). We also have an Early Bird Proposal Submission on July 15, 2019 by 11:59 pm (EST) for colleagues who need formal acceptance of their proposals to obtain travel funding. If you need formal acceptance before that, please email the conference organizers. Proposals must be submitted through the registration form.
Proposal submissions will be collected as part of the registration form, as opposed to submitting a PDF or Word document. All proposals must contain a title, abstract (with at most 500 words), and 3-5 keywords. To maximize the number of presenters, we will only accept one proposal per person.
If you would like to bring a poster, we will have space for posters to be displayed. Anyone may display a poster, regardless of whether or not you are giving a talk. Displaying a poster will give you the opportunity to talk with others about your research.
Poster presentations do not involve submitting a proposal. Proposals are just for Research Reports and Ideas for Research Studies talks.
