James Madison University
Vladislav Kokushkin, Marcus Wolfe, Zareen G. Aga, Ahsan Chowdhury, and Katie Bjorkman are organizing the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Conference on Research in Undergraduate Mathematics Education. The conference will be held at James Madison University, located in Harrisonburg, VA on Saturday, September 20th, 2025. There is no registration fee. To register to attend or present at the MA-RUME conference this September, please fill out the registration form.
Thank you to George Mason University and Richard Bland College of William & Mary for their support of our conference!
There is no cost to attend or present, but we would like to have a headcount so that we know how many people to expect. So please register here by September 13th if you plan to attend (this includes both in-person attendance and virtual).
Below is a link to the official conference schedule. While you may print this schedule, we suggest referencing the online version in case there are any changes or updates made.
Directions to the venue: We will be in Festival Conference and Student center, Allegheny Room 2108. The GPS address for the location is provided on the map here. Parking accommodations: There is a parking lot next to our King Hall. Parking there is free over the weekends.
There are three types of talks we are accepting proposals for.
Research Reports. This type of talk is for presentations of either finalized or preliminary research results.
Ideas for Research Studies/Preliminary Reports. This type of talk is for presenters who are in the design phase of a research study or looking for ideas on how to proceed with ongoing work. During the talk, they can present their research problem/question and their current plan for addressing it in order to solicit feedback on how to improve the study design.
RUME Proposals for Feedback. This type of talk is for researchers who are new to the RUME community and would like feedback in preparing their research for a presentation at the next RUME conference.
More details regarding the length and format of talks will be shared with presenters after submissions are reviewed.
Preference for proposals will be given to registrations received by August 1st, 2025 by 11:59 pm (EST). Later submissions may still be considered. We also have an Early Bird Proposal Submission on July 15th, 2025 by 11:59 pm (EST) for colleagues who need formal acceptance of their proposals to obtain travel funding. If you need formal acceptance before that, please email the conference organizers. Proposals must be submitted through the registration form above.
Proposal submissions will be collected as part of the registration form above, as opposed to submitting a PDF or Word document. All proposals must contain a title, abstract (with at most 500 words), and 3-5 keywords.
If you would like to bring a poster, we will have space for posters to be displayed. Anyone may display a poster, regardless of whether or not you are giving a talk. Displaying a poster will give you the opportunity to talk with others about your research.
We have Hotel block rates at Madison Hotel for Sept 19–21. The rate is $165/night + tax, and reservations must be made by Aug 19. Here is the booking link
